Question about Acer AL1916W 19" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

A virtical squash - (not talkin veggie)

I'm running from an Aspire 7720 'Connecting to the AL1916W by the VGA pin cord. Had a few problems keeping the AL 1916 in primary display mode selection. That's resolved but ... on the 19" the image is squashed!
I would have thought I could remedy it from the windows control panel but saving that, the acutely spartan manual controls on the monitor don't seem to offer display tweaking either.
What now?

I solved it by adapting myself mentally to the fact that it's only a little squashed. I'm used to it now.
'Not exactly what most people can use as a template, but there's other things to invest my emotions on.

-check the monitor cable (vga cable the one with blue connector) for broken pins

-if not try another monitor cable or try the monitor to another cable
-if the monitor still turns to yellow after trying another cable or connecting it to another computer to problem could be with the monitor or the vga card

My AL1916W monitor is blank, but the light keeps blinking orange to green and we cannot turn it on or off. I have checked the vga and power cord...nothing works.

Try it with another PC to make sure it is not video card problem.
If it is monitor problem, you will have to take it apart.
If you are going to DIY and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed ACER monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

How can I get rid of a blue hue on the screen?

Check the VGA cable and all the pins at both ends of the cable. Try it on another PC also. We want to make sure it is not the video card problem.

The monitor only has blue green & yellow color The model is AL1916W & is only a couple of yrs old

Please check the pins at both ends of the VGA cable first, also try it on another PC.
If it still does the same then you will need to open it up to inspect the inside.

No signal

This is more likely to be a problem with the connection between the graphics card & the monitor. The connection might be loose at one of the ends. Another possibility is that the cable connecting the graphics card & the monitor is damaged & needs to be replaced. Also, it might be because of a damaged VGA socket. Check the VGA socket for broken or bent pins.
