The toolbox software is part of the driver, it wants you to re-run the printer calibration.

K5400 warning lights indicated print head problems. I have cleaned the print heads and reinstalled them and I am back in business but now it's doing a test print on every occasion.

Try doing an alignment with the printheads.
You can also try changing the inks,if that solves the problem eventhough old inks are stil not empty, contacts might be the issue on old inks which causes error blinking lights which is an indication of printhead rejection.

Method one: Clean printheads in Solution Center
  1. Make sure the printer is loaded with unused white paper.
  2. In HP Solution Center , click Settings , and then click Printer Toolbox .
  3. Select the Services tab, and then click Clean Printheads .

Method two: Clean printheads from the control panel
  1. Make sure the printer is loaded with unused white paper.
  2. Press and hold the Power button
  3. Press the Cancel button two times.
  4. Press the Resume button one time.
  5. Release the Power button
Cleaning the printheads takes a few minutes, and when it completes, a page prints.

Method one: Calibrate linefeed in Solution Center
  1. Make sure the printer is loaded with unused white paper.
  2. Open HP Solution Center , then click Settings , then Printer Toolbox .
  3. Select the Services tab.
  4. Click Calibrate Linefeed .
  5. An Advance Linefeed Calibration window opens. Click OK .
  6. After calibration, print another PQ Diagnostic. If there are still dark lines or white gaps in Test Pattern 3, the printer must be serviced.
Method two: Calibrate linefeed from the control panel
  1. Press and hold the Power button
  2. Press the Cancel button fourteen times.
  3. Press the Resume button six times.
  4. Release the Power button

I need to calibrate my hp deskjet 3845 but when I click the button to calibrate it says it's lost communication with the device

Hello

Calibration is one of the functions performed from the Printer Assistant icon on the desktop. If the Printer Assistant icon on the desktop has been deleted from the system, the same tasks can also be accomplished from the Printer Toolbox . The Printer Toolbox can be accessed through the Printer Folder or by right-clicking the Printer Icon on the Taskbar

Please follow these steps to calibrate your printer

Double-click the Printer Assistant icon on the desktop. The Printer Assistant menu will appear with a list of options

Select the Tools and Updates option or the Utilities option (depending on your driver version).

Printer Maintenance menu will appear.

Select the Calibrate Printer tab from the Printer Maintenance options

Click the Calibrate tab. The printer will print the first calibration page.

In the Cartridge alignment page, please inspect the straight colored lines in Sections A, B, C and D . Choose the straightest lines in each section to indicate the best cartridge alignment.

In the Page alignment area, please verify Section E . Then, select the bar and the arrow closest to the edge of the page without being cut off, to indicate the best page alignment.

In the Calibrate Device window, enter the selected alignment values in the Pen Alignment and in the Page Alignment fields and click the Continue tab

The second calibration page will be printed now. The page will contain two patterns: a square and a cross . The lines on the patterns should be horizontally and vertically aligned . Click the Done tab if the lines are correct or the Calibrate tab to repeat the calibration process

The first calibration page contains five sets of alignment patterns. The calibration will cover two areas of alignment. The Cartridge alignment is designed to obtain the best print quality and the Page alignment is designed to ensure that the print is aligned correctly on the page.

If the Printer Assistant and its files have been deleted from the system, the maintenance features in the Tools and Updates section of the Printer Assistant are also available in the Printer Toolbox .
Open the Printer Toolbox and perform the services by following the instructions below:

Right-click the Printer Icon on the Taskbar .

Click Open the Deskjet Toolbox option.

Select the Printing Service tab in the Printer Toolbox .

Choose the Calibrate the printer option.

NOTE:HP recommends to use HP plain paper when performing the cartridges calibration process.

NOTE:These printers could work with one or two print cartridges. HP recommends to perform the cartridge calibration process with the two cartridges installed in order to get the best print quality. Anyway, the printer can also be calibrated with one cartridge installed if the customer decides to work in that way.

How do one correct print quality in hp color laser jet 2600n

Hi Good day!!
Follow this method hope it helps you!!

During the printing process, paper, toner and dust particles can accumulate inside the printer. Over time, this buildup can cause print-quality problems such as toner specks or smearing. This printer has a cleaning mode that can correct and prevent these types of problems.
This printer has two processes for generating cleaning pages: one is automatically generated and one is manually generated. When a new black print cartridge is installed, a cleaning page will be automatically generated prior to calibration.
Clean the fuser using HP Toolbox
NOTE: Use the following procedure to clean the fuser using the HP Toolbox. To clean the engine when the computer is running an operating system that does not support HP Toolbox, see the late-breaking Readme on the root of the CD-ROM, or visit http://www.hp.com/support/clj2600n .

1 Make sure that the printer is turned on and in the Ready state.

2 Open the HP Toolbox using one of the following methods.
*
On the Windows desktop, double-click the HP Toolbox icon.
* On the Windows Start menu, click Programs (All Programs in Windows XP), click HP , click HP Color LaserJet 2600n, and then click HP Color LaserJet 2600n Toolbox .

6 Click the Clean button to complete the cleaning process. Press the GO button on the printer control panel. The Cleaning page will print, with a second page adhered to the first page. This is normal behavior during the cleaning process.

Cleaning spilled toner
Defective print cartridges can develop leaks. Also, after a paper jam has occurred, some toner might remain on the rollers and guides inside the printer. The pages that print immediately after the jam can pick up this toner.
CAUTION: When cleaning the printer, do not touch the ETB with a damp cloth or with fingers.
Cleaning the paper path
The device features a special cleaning mode to clean the paper path.
NOTE: If there is access to HP Toolbox, HP recommends cleaning the paper path by using HP Toolbox.

HP LaserJet 1500... prints color yellow ONLY

It's possible that the toner in the cartridge is not evenly distributed. You can redistribute toner if you gently shake the cartridge from side to side, then reinstall it to see if this affects performance. Please also see this article.
You might wish to use the guided troubleshooting option available from HP support here. Or have a look at the troubleshooting section in the user manual here. Then clean the engine & calibrate the printer, as described pg. 88.
If that's no help, please see this forum post and the linked attachments within.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

What your printer manufacturer calls calibrate is a test that draws
small black lines on a piece of paper, in 5 different instances. You pick the number that looks the straightest. But i installed a 50$ HP deskjet this week that i didn't calibrate and it prints just perfect.
_Your Q where is the toolbox is the printer software that is on your computer that is used tell how much ink level is in the cartridges etc. print test pages...on XP click START.....click Control Panel......
click PRINTERS........open the printer properties for the installed
printer then just start looking around
