Question about Toshiba Satellite M35X-S149 Notebook

Atheros wireless problem

I have a Toshiba Satellite M35X-S149 laptop with an Atheros wireless card built in. I can not seem to get it to work. When I run the troubleshoot utility, it says the card is not associated with any access point. It wants me to configure the card and give is a SSID. I don't know how to configure it and set the SSID. HELP!!!

I re-installed the driver, but now it will try to connect to my network and come back with the "limited or no connectivity" message. What do I do now?

I reset the modem and still it will not connect. Now it trys to connect and just goes back to showing the available networks in range without doing anything.

Ok, if your using Vista, what i want you to do is right click "computer" select "manage" and then "device manager", then click on the + sign next to "network adapters" and right click on the wireless network and "un-install" the device, reboot the PC and wait for windows to detect the wireless card and install the drivers for it, this will appear in the system tray (bottom right hand side) when its done try to connect again

keep me informed please

Now you have to reset the modem, remove power for 30-60 secs and return power, give it minute or two to reset and try reconect

By the reviews I see,not the best choice for a dependable machine...that said,it should have at least a 60GB HD,so I don't know what you mean by NO HD? http://www0.dealtime.co.uk/xPF-Toshiba_Satellite_M35X_S149_P1_50GHZ If it's missing,it easy to install one,but if you are not sure of your mech knowledge, bring it to a shop, maybe $20.00 to install.

I suspect that my video card is going bad. It is

To check if the video card is faulty, connect an external monitor to the video port, power up the monitor first and then the laptop.
The video data should automatically divert to the external monitor, if you see a normal Windows image on the external monitor, then the video card is OK and the fault is the LCD screen and or backlight.
If you don't get any images then video card is probably faulty and because it is built-in on the motherboard it cannot be replaced or repaired.
You could replace the motherboard but this might not be cost effective.
