How to prep and change a blade for gas concrete saw

1) Buy the most expensive, name-brand saw that you can afford, from a store that has been selling tools for a long time.
2) Remember: Price is almost always an indicator of quality in power tools! Stick with Bosch, Porter-Cable, Makita, DeWalt, Ryobi or another of the "big names."
3) Be sure the saw you buy has a motor shaft lock; it will make blade changes much easier and safer.
4) DON'T buy an extended warranty unless you are going to be doing work that you KNOW will damage the saw (cutting concrete or metal, cutting dirty wood, etc.).

Blade catch wears out too fast
I loved this tool when it was working but after not that much use the teeth that hold the blade under pressure no longer hold hard enough to prevent the blade from coming out. The mechanism that holds the blade has no catch hole, it uses a few serated teeth to pressure hold the blade in place. Unfortunately, once the pressure starts to lessen you can't tighten it down...

Hi, Using Black and Decker blades should be ok as they are part of the same company. Bosch jig saw blades work just as well to be honest and tend to be cheaper sometimes as they are geared more for trade where as Black and Decker are more for the Diy and they like to hike the price up. There are lot of cheap 'For Dewalt' blades for sale on ebay, and from past experience stay well clear. They are copy's of genuine Dewalt, made of cheap steel and not as sharp, they don't last long and snap so easy while in use, so stick to a good branded make.

I don't know if this will help you much but I've got a DeWalt 14 inch chop saw and a 10 inch miter saw and they both have a small lever on the right hand side of frame just behind blade If you depress this lever and slowly rotate blade until it drops into place this locks the blade for changing. it's either a cylinder behind fence,twist it to open,let go so it close's. or there is a lever on the side that you lift up to insert blade let down to hold in place

This is common IF the blade clamping nut becomes loose... the blade will free wheel on the arbor after the motor stops. It can tear up the arbor so investigate this possibility immediately.

We had to send our saw to repair center to install new lever. Fortunately, still under warranty.
