2000 buick park avenue how to replace transmission control solenoid.

I got an error code P0742 Torque converter clutch circuit stuck on. I researched and found I need to replace the transmission control solenoid. I understand it is inside the ****** oil pan. Should I change fluid and filter? Just had it done 6 months ago.

It's not in the bottom pan it is in the side cover you will need to drop the side of the sunframe and remove the left axle shaft

Testimonial: "Thanks, I won't be doing it myself now."

SOURCE: P0102 code on a 2000 Buick Park Avenue

yes your right. it is a low circuit input code for a mass air flow sensor. you can try taking the mass air off and cleaning it good. sometimes it will help but normally they are just bad.

I have no one Park Avenue and the code says I have a torque converter solenoid stuck on just wondering where it's located and how hard it is to change

The torque convertor clutch solenoid is inside the transmission. It is behind the lh transmission cover plate. Not exactly an easy fix for someone. A decent garage should charge you about $400-600 to replace, Beware- they will probably try to sell you a whole transmission overhaul!!

Where is the clutch solenoid on montecarlos 2000

This code refers to the electrical side of the torque converter not the inside workings of the converter itself. Check the electrical connector and harness for opens breaks or chaffing. Most of the times the tcc solenoid replacement will fix this issue.

P0742 torque converter clutch circuit stuck on

Ok, The other day I had a "service Engine Soon" light. The car was shifting really hard, and slamming into each gear. I have found that if I pull over, take my code reader and plug it in, I get a PO742 code. Torque converter circuit stuck on. I proceed to erase that code from the computer, and restart the car and it will run and drive totally fine, as if nothing is wrong. I have been doing it this way for 3 years and the car is running fine to this day. It hasn't cost me a dime in repairs, and I commute 500 miles/week. It's worth a try, because I have heard that if you spend 800-900 bucks to get it "fixed", the problem WILL return some day.

P1573 - Connection lost between ABS Module and PCM
P1811 - code P1811 will set if a shift into any gear other than reverse and forward engagements takes longer than 0.65 seconds to complete

I have a 2000 Chevy venture and recently about 6 months ago had the transmission overhauled and now I have code p0742 showing up. Could it be replacing the water pump and fuel pump be causing the code...

Hello: P0742 MEANS THE TORQUE converter clutch is stuck on. The repairs on the water pump and fuel pump should not have caused this. The P0742 could be caused by electrical connection going into the transmission, a dirty/failed torque converter solenoid, debris in the transmission. Recommend you get code cleared at Auto Zone, O'Riely, Advance Auto (they probably won't charge you) and see if code comes back, it may only be a one time incident. If it comes back then it will need to be repaired. How long is the warranty on the trans overhaul, time? miles?

2001 Pontiac Bonneville engine code: P0742 Torque Converter Clutch Circuit stuck on. How do I fix this?

Well you have to take transmission's valve body cover off and locate the torque converter clutch solenoid and take it off and change it if necessary. because without that solenoid your transmission will not survive for long. Good luck

Cause:
The above condition may be due to drive sprocket support bearing fluting and/or bearing failure.

Correction:
Replace the drive sprocket support bearing. Inspect the channel plate and drive sprocket for any abnormal wear, Turbine shaft for cut seals and/or nicks, and chain for excessive play due to failed bearings.

Important:
When installing the new bearing, the part number MUST be visible (facing upward). Before installing the drive sprocket, lubricate the bearing assembly with J 36850 assembly lubricant.

Refer to the 4T65-E Unit Repair Section for the installation procedure.

Service Part Information:
Part Number: 24214158
Description: Drive Sprocket Support Bearing

Parts are currently available from GMSPO.

Its possible that you can use a voltmeter to test for power and ground at the TCC solenoid connector and also resistance across the solenoid. The scan tool is helpful in pulling the codes, commanding the TCC on and off and monitoring the state of command while driving.

Hope help with this (remem, ber comment and rated this).

1999 Buick Park Ave Ultra Service Engine Light Code #P0742

The code PO742 indicates the torque converter clutch is stuck on.
The torque converter is what connects the engine to the transmission.
It engages and disengages according to signals from the pcm, to aid in
smooth shifting. There are a couple of things you can try. make sure trans. fluid is full, if thats ok check the 20 pin connector, located on left
side of car on top of transmission bell housing. Make sure there's no
corrosion or bent pins. If this clears the code your all set, if not you may
want to ask your mechanic and see what he/she recomends.
Hope this helps.
Good luck
