Question about Videoseven V7 E17PS 17" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Desktop Orientation My desktop has been shifted to a sideways orientation (due to my young boys "monkeying" with it). I received a suggestion about locating the video card icon on the desktop and changing the orientation, however I could not locate the icon. I am not sure what video card I have installed (Direct X?). How can I get this orientation changed? Do I have to do it in Safe Mode? Thanks in advance, Trey Merck

Re: Desktop Orientation

Hello again T-Bear, First off before we try the hard way lets try the easy way: -Hold the Crtl and Alt keys down. -While continuing to hold them down press the Up arrow key once. If that doesn?t work -Go to Start, Settings, Control Panel -Find the System Icon and double left click on it. -Click on the Hardware tab. -Click on the Device Manager button. -In the Device Manager box that appears find the icon labeled Display adapters and click on the + symbol to the left of it. -Below that you will find at least one object, highlight it by left clicking on it once then right click on it and select properties. -Click on the General tab and the top line will tell you the name of the card and in parentheses, the name of the driver manufacturer. I need this info. Let us know how it goes and please don?t forget to rate this post.

Screen has turned sideways

Right click on an empty spot on the desktop and scroll down to either the Nvidia or ATI control panel. Once you are in the control panel, look in the left hand pane and look for something that says, screen orientation or screen rotation. When you select that it may give you the orientation in degrees of a compass or rosary. Make sure you place the monitor orientation at "0" degrees. This will bring the screen back to normal.

Change screen orientation from portrait to landscape

Kids... my students found this trick.
RIGHT CLICK on the desktop. Look in Graphic Controls.. there are some that allow turning of the screen. There are keyboard commands that allow this too. Return to correct orientation and remove the checkmark to allow that.

Monitor displaying everything horizontally

Some monitors don't give orientation feedback to the video card to auto change the orientation when you move from a horizontal screen to vertical. what you need to do is get to display properties and advanced settings (right click desktop > properties > settings > advanced > video card settings > orientation) - you should find an option to change the orientation of the display - correct it accordingly. if the settings are not being saved after you restart, you need a video driver update - find it on your manufacturers website.

Rotating screen view

To change the orientation of the display you need to change settings on the video card properties. Just physically changing the orientation of the LCD will not change the display on it. (Generic options to follow are : Right click on desktop > click properties > click tab settings > click advanced > click on tab of video card name > you should find the rotation option on this window)
NOTE : if these options are not available, high probability that your video card does not support orientation / rotation of display.

Desktop is dispalyed horizontal on monitor

The Ctrl-alt direction key sequence is supposed to be used for changing your workspace. On my computer at work it changes the screen orientation Ctrl-Alt-Up - right side up
Ctrl-Alt-Right - 90 degrees
Ctrl-Alt-Down - 180 degrees
Ctrl-Alt-Left - 270 degrees
(If that doesn’t work, try Ctrl-Shift-R)

Typically its a function of your video card driver. If you look in the system tray (lower right hand part of screen you'll see several icons, one of which represents your video card drivers adjustments. However over each of them one at a time and a label will appear. When you find the video card right click on the icon and you should see a selection about rotation or screen orientation. If you can't find it let us know what video card you have installed and we'll try to help.
