Installing a new heating element on my Whirlpool dryer.
I just received my new heating element for my Whirlpool dryer. The problem I am having is that I disconnected the old element without making a note of how to reconnect the wires. Two are read and one orange.

Re: installing a new heating element on my Whirlpool...
Shouldnt make a diff, the orange wire can only go in one place, adn the 2 reds make no difference.. the only thing you need to do is remove the thermostat from the oldelemnt and install it on the new heater

You probably need a new heating element. Type your model number + Heating element into Google search. and it should bring up several retailers that carry the part. It's not a hard job to do, just labor intensive. Unplug your dryer, remove the back plate, disconnect element wires (remember where they go or mark them with lettered pieces of tape) unscrew the element. Install: Put wires on new element, reattach element, reinstall back cover, and you're done.
If it's still spinning, I think that you need a new heating element. Just go to the parts store with your model number (or, better yet, your old heating element) and pick up a new element, then install it. It's usually pretty easy (we did ours and neither of us are electricians). Make sure that your dryer is unplugged before you do anything.
That solution is for a situation where everything else is working: dryer is still turning around and so on. If the dryer won't turn on at all, that's a different problem. Good luck.
