Hello there. I kind of see what you're saying, however to access these things that would be a lot of work that you don't have to do. The motor is mounted to the lower frame. The heater element is usually mounted to the right side, on the bottom. Maytag dryers can be cumbersome to figure out, UNLESS you know how to do correctly disassemble them. http://www.do-it-yourself-washing-machine-and-dryer-repair-help.com/belt-Maytag-dryer.html This will help you out, even if it's an older model or a newer model design. It's not necessary to disconnect any wiring in the control panel unless you'll be testing the components within it, or replacing them. The control panel will usually just flip up and back out of the way with the proper items removed. I hope this helps. I would be glad to help you further if you need it, or have any questions.

Always disconnect electricity before beginning this process.
All the 4 wire cords I have seen are color-coded. The white wire goes to the middle terminal, the green wire goes to any screw you can reach that goes into the metal case of the dyer. The red and black go to the outside terminals of the block and while it doesn't matter which color goes to which terminal I usually follow the color code of the interior dryer wiring that already exists. Good Luck.
Raise top by placing a putty knife between top and front in the seam between the two about 2 inches in from each edge and lifting up at the same time. Raise top to full open position.
Look down inside the open top dryer at each side there will be a screw on each side a few inches down. Leaning against the front remove the two screw and pull the top forward a few inches and raise it from the supports at bottom then swing it aside protecting any wiring.
This will give you access to the underside of the dryer.
Reverse the disassembly process to reassemble the front and top being careful not to disconnect any wiring.
Which wires are you referring to? The power cord or something else? Please advise and I may be able to assist you..
Regards,
Rick
