Question about Samsung RF265AA Bottom Freezer French Door Refrigerator
Samsung RF267AAWP refrigerator (1 year old) makes strange noise intermittently. It sounds like someone putting down a glass on a counter top. It happends about every 15 to 30 min approximately. It's a very annoying qiurk for such an exspensive refrigerator!!!
It sound like it it coming from around the ice maker?
Thank you for your help.
Does the sound occur when the compressor is starting or shutting down? and only lasts for a couple of seconds? I had one do the exact same thing. Sometimes it would also wake me up at night. If so, I'm afraid he is right. On the bright side, it worked fine for years. I gave it to a girlfriend when I purchased a bigger one and it is still working today. The only thing you can do is change the compressor, which is probably not $$ practical.

SOURCE: Ice Maker quit making ice cubes
Look on the bottom of the rectangular motor housing for the ice maker. This is the white box that holds the front end of the ice tray. In the past, this was normally a small patch of black 'runner' that covered the switch and helped kkep moisture out.
If you cannot locate it by feel, try using a small mirror and a flashlight to help you locate it.

there is a damper door assy that allows the cold from the freezer to the refrigerator, this may be sticking from shipping foam or tape that has never been removed from shipping, the install team almost allways rush and never really install correctly no do they explain how to use and care for the appliance, so check these things. in addition there is a know issue of the refrigerant lines having a slight restriction in them thus causing a autable sound coming from the evaporator and capillary line, this is located in the frezzer and will sound like its coming from all over. call bake the service co. & have them remove & reinstall the evaporator.

Sound like the problem may be a gear broken or damaged in the module which appears to be replaceable in your model. If you can dissasemble it enough to inspect the gears you may can replace the part instead of the entire ice maker. It looks like the motor may be in part 18 on this diagram. http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getSubComp.pd?modelNumber=RS2630WW&productCategoryId=0165000&brandId=1482&modelName=SAMSUNG-REFRIGERATION&diagramPageId=00009&componentDescription=ICE%20MAKER&documentId=M0612092&backToLink=Return%20to%20Sub%20Components%20list

If you hear a clicking sound sometimes, it is your ice maker. Replace ice maker, all you need is a short phillips screwdriver. Remove ice bucket, to the left you will see a philllips screw holding a long plastic panel going all the way to the back, remove the screw and the panel, it has clips that slilde in, unplug ice maker and push down on tab on top of ice maker and pull out
