Is it a modem or router? And is it yours or a cable providers.

If its the later, then most likely you wont be able to get into it as they are configured for that company and they control the settings remotely from the service provider. You would have to call them to configure it as they have it locked.

If its yours, some manufacturers put the default login and password on the bottom and you have to IP into it. ( put the units IP address into your Internet explorer bar, just like an address. This i the same way you configure wireless routers like linksys.

Hope this helps, let me know if you need more help.

How do you connect a router

>If you have a modem, make sure that the modem is on bridged mode (you can ask help in doing that from your ISP) then that's the time that you connect the router and configure it.

Have another computer dell desktop not this one,it boots up and shows windows xp logo and then the screen goes completely black and cannot get into any thing

Possibly it is a video driver problem. Try entering boot menu by pressing the F8 key at startup, and first of all try with "Boot in last known working configuration". If it doesn't solve the problem, retry booting in safe mode and change the video resolution to 640x480 VGA. This will look horrible, but if it lets you reboot and login as Administrator in normal mode, you will be able to reinstall the video drivers from Dell (either the CD-ROM or the web site). At that point you will be able to raise the resolution again.

If it still doesn't work you might need a recovery install of XP, which sometimes messes with some programs' configuration.

ok
First connect your belkin to computer with ethernet cable.
Then access with following link

http://192.168.15.1
type user name as 'admin" and password is "password' or 'admin'

then configure your router as pppoe if your isp gives you user name and password.
also you can configure it as bridge mode.
If you want to get ip automatic from router enable dhcp.
I wait for you rreply.
Thanks for using fixya.

How do i configure my dlink 302g modem to my new ISP's settings?

Hi Nitangel
Before proceeding with modem installation you need to gather your connection details from your Internet Provider. You will need to know or find out the following information about your new ADSL connection from your Internet Service Provider:

Connection Type:
PPPoE
PPPoA
Bridge RFC1483

Default IP address: 10.1.1.1 (USB 10.1.1.2)
Username: admin
Password: admin

· Username / password (PPP connections only)
· IP address / Subnet Mask / Default Gateway (Bridge connections only)
· DNS IP Addresses (optional)

To set up, log into the modem using your WEB browser: type http://10.1.1.1 in the address bar and press Enter.
Enter username 'admin' and
password 'admin' (default setting).

Go to Quick Configuration page.
Set Refresh Rate to "No Refresh".

If it is a PPPoE or PPPoA CONNECTION:
Select Operation Mode: PPP.
In the Connection Type drop-down menu select PPPoE or PPPoA profile.
Enter username and your password.
Select CHAP under Authentication Type (check with your ISP if not sure).

If it is a BRIDGED RFC1483 CONNECTION:
Select Operation Mode: Bridge. If you do not see "Bridge" options please update your modem's firmware at http://www.dlink.com.au/tech/
Select LLC or VC Mux as suggested by your provider.

Make sure your VPI/VCI is set according to your ISP requirements:

Click on "Save & Reboot" to save settings.

Then give modem a minute or two to reboot and reconnect. Restart your computer and you should be able to access the Internet.

You do not have to run any login client on your computer or router because your modem logs to your ISP automatically.

Hope this information helps if I can help further let me know.
