Driver not working with recent OS versions

I upgraded my windows98 to windows xp pro and found my video isn't working anymore. I tried downloading possible drivers from several sites and none worked. What could be the problem? There's no on-board video card and am using S3 Trio pci video card. Everytime I tried to install or update the driver, the computer just can't find the compatible driver installer. Will anybody outtader help me?!!!

Voyetra midi orchestrator

The only Voyetra Midi Orchestra Plus software I can know was written for Windows 3.1 and Windows 95. Thus there are several reasons for it to be incompatible with Windows 8. First, it was a 16-bit software; the most common Windows 8 installs use a 64-bit OS. This means that the OS has undergone a number of major changes. The installers are completely different (format/way of talking to the OS). The DLLs that communicate between the software and the OS have also changed. The drivers for MIDI devices will be totally different in the modern OS.

The documentation for Voyetra Midi Orchestra is available here: http://www.turtlebeach.com/support/files/241/ . It is a discontinued product and no one at the company that owns it will be writing a new version of the code for Windows 8. I'm not sure this software will work in Windows 7 32-bit. You might be able to use the software in a compatibility mode from a virtual version of XP. For Windows 7 Pro, Virtual PC and the XP mode package are available as free downloads and can be used if your hardware allows. Windows 8 Pro has Hyper-V but requires a licensed version of any Windows OS that you want to use. For non-pro versions of Windows software, you would need to buy a Pro upgrade. The alternative is to obtain another Virtual machine software (VMWare, for example) and a licensed copy of XP or an older version of Windows. (OEM Windows 7 Pro licenses are still available from many computer hardware vendors.)

I hope this helps.

I used twinkle cam successfully in windows xp. I have upgraded to windows 7. How do I get the driver or will anything work?

According to http://www.chicony.com.tw/download/di/driver.asp , the available drivers were written in 2004. Chicony has stopped supporting their cameras for newer Windows OS versions. I suspect they never made a 64-bit version of the driver for XP 64-bit.

If you had the 32-bit version of Windows 7, you might be able to use the compatibility mode to install the driver. To check your version, click on Start > Control Panel > System and Security > System. Look for your Windows version and check if it says x64. If you see that in the description, you have the x64 bit version. Otherwise, right-click on the driver file from the above site (after extracting the files from the zip file). Choose Properties and the Compatibility tab. Check the box for always Run this program in the compatibility mode and set it to Windows XP in the drop-down menu. You may need to repeat this on the camera software as well.

If you have a 64-bit version Windows Home Premium, you may be better off upgrading to Windows 7 Pro or Ultimate. Then you can download and install Virtual PC and the XP mode, if your hardware can handle that software. This gives a virtual version of the 32-bit version XP that will run your camera. (The CPU needs to have virtualization support and it has to be enabled in the BIOS. Then you need enough memory to give the virtual XP at least 512MB -1GB of memory.) If you already have Windows 7 Pro or Ultimate, just use XP mode. Other virtual PC software exists but they require a licensed version of XP. (If you can find a valid license.) The only issue I've found is that files saved to the C: drive in one OS can't be accessed by the other OS. You have to transfer the files with an external drive, flash drive or burn the file to optical disc.

Dual boot systems with XP and Windows 7 can be set up if you have the XP license. Then pick the OS you need when you boot up the computer. This requires you to repartition the hard drive or have two bootable hard drives. Make sure to back up before partitioning the drive.

I wish that I had better news for you.

I have a ce-100 futura sewing machine that will not work with windows 7 what do i need to do to fix this problem

The Futura software and the machine drivers exist for Windows 98, NT, 2000, ME, or XP. If you have Win7 32-bit, you may be able to run in the compatibility mode. Load the CD into the optical drive, then right click on the .exe file on the CD. Then choose Properties. Select the Compatibility tab and check Run this program in the compatibility mode. Click Apply and OK. Then right click again and choose Run as Administrator. This isn't guaranteed to work since the changes in the OS are significant.

To check if you have Win7 32-bit or the 64-bit version, click Start > Control Panel > System and Security > System. The title will say Windows 7 (Version) for a 32-bit OS. It will read Windows 7 (Version) x64 for the 64-bit version of the OS.

If you have the 64-bit OS or the compatibility mode doesn't work, you need a computer running an older version of Windows. This can be a second computer, a dual-boot computer (where you select your OS at startup) or a virtual computer (that runs inside the real computer). If you have Win7 Pro or Ultimate or upgrade to one of those versions, you can create a virtual XP computer for free. Download and install Virtual PC and XP mode from Microsoft. Install them in order. Then install the XP software from the above site in the virtual computer and it will work. (Other virtual computer programs are Parallels and VMWare.) All of the other options will require a licensed version of the older Windows OS.

I hope this helps.

(The last person I dealt with with the issue of an embroidery machine not talking to Windows 7 kept their old Windows XP computer just to work with the sewing machine. Fortunately the old computer was still working enough to use for the purpose.)

CS4 is not detecting WIA device or the Twain driver. I have down loaded the latest canon driver and installed it several times and the system will not connect the two programs. I am using Windows 7...

The Canon software that you downloaded is for Win7 32-bit. Canon does not support this scanner on 64-bit OS versions. With Canon, I've found that the compatibility mode does not work.

A method that will work is to use a computer (virtual, dual-boot, or true second machine) with an older version of Windows installed. If you have Win7 Pro or Ultimate (or upgrade to them), you can create a virtual XP computer for free. Download and install Virtual PC and XP mode from Microsoft. Install them in order. Then install the XP software from the above site in the virtual computer and it will work. (Other virtual computer programs are Parallels and VMWare.) All of the other options will require a licensed version of the older Windows OS. Please note that the virtual computer can't share files directly with the main computer. You'll need to save files to external or removable media (optical media or flash drive, for example) to share them.

I hope this helps.

Acer Aspire T180 is missing Video Controller Driver

Find out what type of Nvidia graphics card it is, then goto the nvidia site and download the installer from them. The installer usually supports multiple families/models of cards. But yes, you need to download the installer for Win XP pro.
You can do it manually, or have it automatically scan for the hardware and download the correct driver automatically.

Here's a link to the automatic --> http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Scan.aspx?lang=en-us

My web cam ws not installed. when my os was changed to windows xp my camera doesnt function anymore

If you upgraded (especially from an earlier version of Windows) chances are you'll have to go to the Webcam's manufacturers website and download the proper drivers for Windows XP. Make sure you uninstall the old drivers and restart you computer before installing the new drivers.

Hope this helps

You may have downloaded the incorrect driver. I would try using the driver directly from the manf. website. You can find the download here: DOWNLOAD

It depends a lot of the rest of your hardware acctually, audio card, video card, etc.
Download everest, that software will tell you what hardwre you exactly have, and then you can look for each driver.
To save time, first install windows xp, and then install everest to discover which drivers are missing, if you are lucky only 1 or 2
