Vizio GV42L - your excellent advice...and...

Had same exact problem suddenly this morning. Went bluescreen",no signal" message in red letters, and shuts down every time in 4 seconds
I've fixed many a board on computers and lorans. Two quick questions, if you'd be so kind:
1. How do you remove the plastic back cover?. Took all logical screws out and nothing budges.
2. Is the **y you refer to part# 3420-0012-0150?
Thanks and all best,

  • 3 Answers you will be able to search 4 the part number you need. i believe it is 3642-0012-0395. the back cover is kinda hard to remove. the way i did it is to take a knife and do this in the bottom corner so u dont see it but you have to pry it off causing the plastic very minor damage. once you get the first couple of clips off the rest are easy. you take it off from the back. and just be careful. its pretty simple insides, just the plastic be careful but it can be done.

Tv keeps flashing

I own a Vizio GV42L. This morning I turned it on and the picture is flashing while the audio is slurring. In addition the picture color is a lot darker. Is this a power supply issue that needs to be replaced? How much and where can I purchase one and can I replaced it myself or recommend professional to install?

The tv had blue screen briefly showing "no signal" then turns off. ... and I am getting the same blue screen-no signal.

If your television is displaying a blue screen or no signal message and then turning off, your TV may be at an inactive input. Here's how you can get back to watching your TV:
1. Powering on your TV and press the INPUT button on the VIZIO remote control repeatedly until a picture re-appears.
2. If this does not work, try again but press the button slower this time.

I got this off the vizio website.

if it just went blank but the "VIZIO" light turns white when you turn it on, then the control board is most likely the problem. very common on Vizio, all sixes

Vizio GV42L 42inch LCD/HDTV

there are several possibilities. first if the unit comes on and the "VIZIO" light turns white, but no picture or sound, then the main control board is most likely the issue. could be the LCD control board(s) depending on model one or two. and ultimately could be the power supply on the upper side....if the "VIZIO" light does NOT turn white, the whole power supply unit is out. after that, would have to scope the circuits to find out. Seems that the control board is the most common and tends to happen on many different sizes. new board will be around $350.00. Might get lucky and find a used one, but it MUST be EXACT part or it wont work right. if you dont find one or want to sell yours for parts, id be interested in the screen. can reach me at thanks, keith

For the 46" TV, it sounds like the main board is bad.

For the 50" Vizio: is the LED light on?
