I am repeating that I bought a Belkin USB 7 hub for flash drives and it was working properly and all of sudden it won't work. does this happen often? What can I do since there is a lifetime warranty?

in that case, use your lifetime warranty because they have their on tools to fix your device and i suppose that they are very familiar with your problems. use the advantage of it. hope that helps!

USB hub port

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Sounds like a hardware problem, most likely a partial short or conductive dirt or corrosion of the USB connector of the MP3 player. Since there are only 4 terminals, 1 side is for the ground, the opposite for +5VDC and the two at the middle are for data, it would be possible to check for continuity using a DVM or VOM and determine if the +5 terminal is shorted to the GND. Alternately, you can try to clean and scrape the pins.

Just a start, do postback how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

Power surge on hub port

I am having to send my wife's curve out for repair today as it seems that the very fine connections made to the circuit board from the power port have come away. This port seems to be very fragile, and poorly designed IMHO given that it has to be used so frequently.

Palm treo 650 wont power up

It may be past the point of turning on.
If this is the case, if you connect it through the USB cable to your computer for a little while, it can get a small charge.

Trickle charging
Some Palm devices have the ability to "trickle charge" from a USB port on a PC or Mac. This means that it receives a very small amount of charging from the USB port, even if it is not connected to its AC charger. If your device is capable of this function, the charging time will be significantly longer for a trickle charge (depending on the power rating of the PC USB port). However, the device may not charge at all on an unpowered USB hub (or for example off off a keyboard).

If you can then power it on afterwards, connect it to the regular power charger.

Shows Li-On battery charged when plugged into AC, shuts down when unplugged

Here is a palm article on the battery not holding charge-

My battery loses its charge very quickly

Like all Lithium Ion batteries, the battery in your device will eventually wear out. If you charge your device fully but it loses power after a few hours (or sooner), it may be time to replace the internal battery.

Sounds like you already did this. Do you have someone you know who has the same battery you could try? Or try your battery in their device?

Step #11

You can connect it via USB and let it charge that way a little while, then try charging it normally. It's called trickle charging-

I need the data on my dead MDA!!!

Try to trickle charge it by hooking it up to the USB and then to your computer. Let it charge up a bit then try powering it on or charging it the regular way to charge it even faster.

Battery draining

Could your computer be using unpowered USB? Some machines and hubs have unpowered ports. Check the Right-click My Computer, Properties, Hardware, Device Manager, Universal Serial Bus Controllers, and find the listed hub which has the iPAQ connected to it. How much power is it drawing, and is the hub self-powered? (look at the power tab after double-clicking the hub) Also, is USB charging turned on? It's in the Power section of the Settings under the "USB Charging" tab.
