Magenta not printing, just giving a faded colour insted

When I'm printing the magenta starts off solid then fades out. This happens even when I print the supply page.

My HP Color LaserJet 2600n also had faded magenta color.

I read on the web that the problem is caused by defective mirrors and that the printer was covered by a service note. I also read that HP would replace the printer, even if it was out of warranty (which mine was) - I assumed it would be free.

I only found one or two sites that mentioned the service note. Most of the suggestions for how to fix this problem involved tearing apart the printer or paying HP to renew warranty service.

I talked to HP via online chat support. Even after I talked to HP, it seemed like the exchange would be cost-free if I sent the printer back within the prescribed time period, which I did.

HP asked for my credit card information for "collateral purposes." But HP charged my credit card $295 to send me a replacement unit. So now I'm fighting with HP to get my money back. And they charged me the day that I submitted my exchange request, not waiting to see if I would return the printer on time.

Not only that, their customer support was inconsistent. I got an email from their automated system that told me the defective printer was received at HP and that there was a charge of $295, but when I called HP to confirm that the charge would be removed since they received my printer, they told me that they didn't receive the printer yet, but that I was not going to be charged for the replacement.

Then I got my credit card statement and saw the charge actually went through. I don't know if I'm going to get my money back. But I know that I'm never buying another HP.

If you print the self test / configuration page and the magenta across the bottom is not solid, it probably means there is an issue with the ink cartridge.

Our company had bought refurbished ink cartridges and found out the hard way that this printer REALLY doesn't like them. You really are best off to stick with OEM cartridges to avoid this problem if you are not already.

You must clean the mirror/optics in the laser scanner unit.
Because the magenta mirror is the lowest and facing up, there is most of the dust...
Laser scanner unit is a black plastic box, fixed with 3 screws.
You must remove rear cover , then almost all cables, right cower, circuitry on back together with metal plate to access it.
Almost 2 hours of work if you are a bit professional..
Hope it works

My CP1515n colour laser is giving faded colours. The left side of the print is very faded whereas the rest of the print is slightly faded

There are two reasons for faded prints. Firstly, faded print could be due to exhausting toner.
If it you have faded prints even after replacing the toner cartridge or if your current cartridge has enough toner, it is most likely be due to dust/ toner dust accumulated at the laser reflecting mirrors inside the printers,
which partially blocks laser beams and requires cleaning/ servicing by a professional.
Hence, it is recommended that you get the printer checked/ serviced from authorized service center.

Hope it helps! Good Luck!

The Magenta colour on my 2605dn is no longer coming out properly (very faint). The cartridge was replaced by made no difference. All other cartridge colours work fine. Tried cleaning and calibrating but...

A faded magenta on this model is probably a dirty scanner mirror.
The printer design puts a fan in an area that blows magenta toner directly at the laser scanner.
The more toner on the mirror, the more faded the print.
You will need to remove the scanner and clean it.

This printer has stopped printing reds and oranges correctly ? they are faded. Changed the toners & no difference

Print a "Config Report" from the printers menu...If u notice that the fourth square on the left side (fourth being the bottom square) for Magenta (reds and orange) is missing or very faded, this could indicate that the optical mirrors inside the printer have to be cleaned...Design flaw. ESP..if changing toners doesn't work and your your faded issue is with Magenta (Pink, red, or orange) colours are the only faded ones...With this design flaw in the optical mirrors, magenta mirror is the first to be affected!
Hope this helps!!!! I work in the industry :)

Light or Faded Areas in Solid Color Prints

If the issue is occuring in the same place on all prints, try the imaging drum (can't remember if this printer even uses one) or the transfer belt/roller (not sure which it uses). If you phone Dell support, they should run you through troubleshooting and send you either of those parts free of charge if you are under warranty. If not, buy them anyways; they don't degrade over time (if kept in the dark) and can be saved for when the currently installed one runs out if you don't need it to fix this issue.
