Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

I have a Whirlpool top load washer: LSR8233JQO. When I started to run it on the normal cycle, the water just ran out the discharge hose as soon as the tub started to fill. Is there supposed to be a selniod valve at the bottom of the tub to keep water in or does the washer rely on the bend discharge tube being located up above the top of the washer?

My washer didn't shut off the water when it was at the proper level...it ran over all over the floor. The washer won't work on the wash cycle but will do spin and rinse cycle.

Sounds like your pressure switch is bad. ake of your top panel and when you do youll be seeing the inside of your washer from the top view, Locate the small rubber hose that connect to your pressure switch. try changing that out. the hose is connected at the top from the pressure switch and runs down to the washer out tub. youll see what im talking about. Change the round looking object the small rubber hose connects to on top. Thats your pressure switch. hope this helps.

to reset the water level you have to turn the knob all the way over as far as it will go and then come back to large load.

Whirlpool washer overflow during wash cycle

What you can try is to get the machine empty and remove the hose that connects the pressure hose to the switch and blow air through it to make sure it is clear, then tap on the nozzle where the hose connects on the switch to make sure it is also clear.

It sounds like the porcelein on the inner or outer tub is damaged allowing rust to form.
Another possibility is that there are iron deposits in the internal hoses that are loosening.
I would (assuming you can afford the water wastage) run the machine on 'full load' and 'hot' several times with no clothes in it to see if it will flush out.

Will not hold water during initial cycle

The drain hose needs to be lifted above the high fill level in washer. The easiest way to fix this is take the drain hose (if your drain hose starts from the bottom of machine and goes up)tie or strap it to the back of the washer so it cant sag or drop down and start syphoning the water.Remember the washer will drain out the water if the drain hose is lower than the amount of water in the tub.Thats why your making sure by tieing the drain hose to the highest point before it makes it way to the drain .

The pump is coupled to a motor that runs it. The pump is ok if it is not leaking. You need to check the signal to the motor to turn on. It all comes from the timer switch unit. The coupling probably should be relpaced if the pump is really bad. Sounds like the drive motor for the tub, not the pump, or the switch unit.

Washer will not fill with water

Is your drain hose lower than the top of the cabinet?? The curved part of the drain hose needs to be slightly higher than the top of the cabinet. Also, the drain hose must have an air gap around it where it goes into the house drain. It sounds to me like your washer is syphoning water out through the drain hose as it is trying to fill. Hope this helps..............
