Oh, you mean it doesn't click on tapping.

Okay, this will surely fix it. Something has disabled the tap feature and you need to enable it again. I have seen it with a couple of computers and I fixed them.

Go to Control Panel. Enter the Mouse Settings and select the last (Devices) Tab at the top of the dialog box that appears. There, click the button Properties. In the Window that comes up, select the Tapping option in the left pane. There, click the Checkbox 'Enable Tapping' or similar.

Now click Apply as many times it requires to close off all the Windows that have come up. Now try moving the mouse.

Please rate this answer. It is really gonna 'FixYa'!

Touch pad not working light bar not on above the touch pad

Hi Cheryll,
Make sure there are no problems with the driver installed on your machine by going to Control Panel->Device Manager and see if there are any question\exclamation marks on one of the drivers. While you are at the device manager you can check the touch pad driver version and update it to the latest from the manufacturer website if needed. To check the driver version double click the touch pad and go to the Driver tab. You will see it under driver version.
Also some netbooks got an hardware button to shutdown the Touch Pad.

Regards,
TheSmacker.

THE MOUSE WON'T MOVE! :(

You may have a corrupt driver, so go to my computer, right click>properties>hardware tab>device manager, then look at the list for mice and other pointing devices, click on the '+' sign and and then your touch pad will be listed, right click on it and select uninstal. Restart the pc and it will automatically reinstall and should work as normal

What is Causing my top case cover to hang up and not come off?????

http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/toshiba-satellite-a205/laptop-disassembly-1.htm

Click on the photo in Step 4.

What screw did you miss?

Display Assembly is removed in order to remove the Upper Cover.

http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/toshiba-satellite-a205/laptop-disassembly-3.htm

Step 12.

The Upper Cover has TABS going around the perimeter, on the inside edges.
These Tabs snap into matching LATCHES on the Base Enclosure.
(OK. Toshiba? Bottom Cover)

Just like the article, I like to start with a thick guitar pick, to get an edge to come up. I start at the Right/Middle, but it's really a personal preference thing.

After the Upper Cover edge is raised a little, I then use my fingertips. You would find a Spudger Tool though, makes life a whole lot easier doing this,

http://www.amazon.com/Techni-Tool-Spudger-Alignment-Tool-Black/dp/B000PDNPYK/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1359090938&sr=8-7&keywords=spudger+tool

(It isn't made of metal)

Can't get the guitar pick, or spudger tool in? Move over a little. You are at a Tab/Latch.

For additional questions please post in a Comment.

My toshiba laptop is askingn for a password to turn on. I know this relates to the cmos battery. I have the toshiba satellite A215-S7413, how to i get to the cmos battery?

How to get to the CMOS battery

The Toshiba Satellite A215-S4747 Notebook PC's CMOS battery, is soldered to a bracket on the bottom of the motherboard.
The laptop has to be completely disassembled to access it.

In this photo showing the bottom of the motherboard, the CMOS battery is in the middle,

http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/toshiba-satellite-a205/big/toshiba-satellite-a200-a205-21.jpg

This is a link to a free Service Manual, detailing disassembly,

http://www.tim.id.au/blog/tims-laptop-service-manuals/#toc-toshiba

Go to the 11th line down. The one that starts with Satellite A10
Go across and click on A215

This is a PDF file. It may take up to 30 seconds before you see the first page, and additional time to fully download.
Suggest you let the file download all the way before looking through it.

1) Remove ALL power to the laptop. Remove the AC adapter (Charger) and Battery

2) Observe Anti-Static Precautions
Suggest you bu and wear an ESD wrist strap, and connect the alligator clip to a good ground source.
Average price is around $3 to $6.

3) Use a multi-compartment container for the various screws you will remove.
Mark each compartment for the area the screws come out of.
There may be as many as 60 screws and 12 different types.
Do Not mix them up.

(You can use a clean egg carton in a pinch. Mark each egg holder)

The cursor of my toshiba satellite has gone out of control .

You can try reinstalling the driver. I'm not sure how old your computer is or how much use it's had, it could be that the touch pad is worn out and needs to be replaced. You could try using a plug in mouse or track ball. Track balls work better with a laptop and are more like using a touch pad.

Touchpad not working

First check: Control Panel -> Mouse -> TouchPad On/Off

Second check for a button near the mouse pad, often there are buttons that will enable/disable the touchpad

Thrid use the shortcut key FN+F9(or what ever F key that is used by your laptop) to disable/enable the TouchPad.

Fourth try this software: http://www.kingzm.com/eng/files/download/MouseManager.zip

Fith
- Select Start, Settings, Control panel.
- Open System, click on Hardware, and Device Manager.
- Expand "Mice and other pointing devices", and double click on the entry below, that may be called "HID-Compliant mouse", or "Alps Pointing Device".
- Under "Device usage", choose "Do not use this device in the current hardware profile (disable)", and click OK.
