Question about Whirlpool 24 in. DU850SW - Multiple Color Free-standing Dishwasher

1 Answer

Won't start, made strange noise.

Cycle won't start, no water. makes very strange noise and then stops. It is very cold here, could my inlet be frozen? How would I check (all other water seems to be running okay.)

Re: Won't start, made strange noise.

JenZ, first check out the float assy. inside the tub and make sure that it is not stuck in the up position. If that is ok, you will have to remove the bottom panel and on the left you will see the fill valve. There will be a two wire harness going to it. You will have to see if you have power going to it when you start the dishwasher. If you have 120V. going to it and still no water, remove the water line to it and see if you have water. Shut it off at the supply first. If you have water and power and still no fill, replace the inlet valve...part number. 8283345. back

Dishwasher won t fill

I had a similar problem with a Kenmore; the problem turned out to be that the float was stuck. On the bottom of your dishwasher there should be something that looks vaguely like a plastic mushroom - that is the float. Just tap it gently and see if it goes down a bit. If it does, gently move it up and down a few times to make sure it's moving freely (make sure to leave it in the down position) and then try to launch a cycle. Good luck!

Dishwasher Water Temperatures

No matter what detergent you use, the "pills", powder, or gels, they are meant to activate PROPERLY, key word PROPERLY, at a minimum of 120 degrees Fahrenheit in a dishwasher. I recommend ALWAYS using the "high temp wash, boost, etc" on ANY cycle in order to keep the water HOT! Always run the hot water in the sink prior to starting the dishwasher! The unit is tied in to the hot water line under the kitchen sink and requires very little water to fill--by the time the hot water finally reaches the dishwasher, chances are it'll be running on cold or tepid water--the detergent won't dissolve or activate the way it's supposed to. Not only that, in between fills during the cycle, especially in winter, the water will cool down in the pipes too much. Normally, the water heating selection will maintain water temps in the 130-150 degree range! If someone has been sick in the house, turn on the SANI RINSE if your unit has it! This won't stop--but it'll help prevent cross contamination--people getting sick from the dishes--this setting normally kicks the water temp up to 190 degrees during the rinse cycle.

The CLEAN light is flashing on my Kenmore QuietGuard3 , but it won't clean anything. It starts a cycle for a few minutes, stops and starts flashing clean again. Any suggestions?

You will have to reset the dishwasher. First try and turn off the mains power and back on after a short time. If the clean light flashing starts again then you go through the hard reset procedure.

press NORMAL WASH then HEATED DRY buttons one after the other until all the lights on the board lit up (3X's). The dishwasher will enter into a cycle; Press Cancel. This should stop the flashing.
If you are supplying dishwasher from hot water inlet then make sure the inlet water temperature stays within the recommended range of 145 deg F.

Aeg favorit 40010vi dishwasher won't fill with water

I have a similar issue on oko favorit 50700. I have checked the flow from the inlet hose into a bucket and it really seems ok, so I think maybe a problem at the inlet to the machine? Plea update if you get a fix!

When starting wash cycle the dishwasher cda cw447 doesnt appear to be getting enough water in and is making a droning / whirring / electrical ? noise. pipes all connected ok inc aquastop water supply unit,...

Try removing the inlet pipe, and refitting, might fix it, else likely that the
Inlet water soleniod failing/failed or tiny mesh filter (it does come out for cleaning) behind the inlet hose clogged. Temporaily bypass the aquastop water stop unit; it might be the culprit!

A replacement solenoid is usually only about £10 from, or ebay sellers (no connection with these but they are very good), fits in minutes (2 or 3 electrical spades ,and a posidrive or two) and usually fixes all water related problems. the noise you can hear is probably the solenoid trying to actuate, will be droning/buzzing sound.
could simply be stuck with some foreign matter in there that's got through the mesh filter but unlikely. they normally fail and sound terrible.

Don't throw your dishwasher away for the sake of a £10 part.
Good luck
