Question about Microsoft MNTR TYRIS|LCD 19' 8MS DVI T901DB Monitor

1 Answer

Screen picture & LED green light keep flashing on and off

My monitor is a tyris 17" TFT LCD display, model # T701DB. Basically the screen just keeps flashing on and off, as well as the green led light. When it's on you can see the picture and the mouse also works on that screen. It'll just flash on for half a second then off for 2-4 seconds. I think it first started after I took my pc out of the screen saver (Shutterfly) that was on, then it just started acting up. Could this be a power cord problem?

Tyris Model: F179
No Power
Purchased an AsIs non-Working Tyris F179 from Goodwill for $15. Opened the case, found no swollen capacitors. Tested the capacitors on the power board and found C203 680uf 16v and C202 680uf 16v only partly working. Could not find a pair of 680uf caps and since they were in paralell on the same traces I removed both of them and substituted with a single 1500uf 16v capacitor. Next, the video board does have a Novatek chip much like the Novatek chip in the Samsung 710n but look closely at the 5 and 6 legs, they are not being used in the Tyris design so the 5/6 50ohm resistor fix is not needed here. Did find C107 , C16, C50 weak, all 47uf 16v, so i replaced them. Reassembled and now have a great picture again.

i'm not an expert at anything...x'cept maybe dumpster diving. God Bless

What should the tyre pressures be on a vw sharan vr6, 225/45/r17?

Tyre pressure is given by the manufacturers for both ride comfort and wear. For comfort, most are recommending 32 PSI, I personally have found with the lower profile sport tires, that running 35PSI gives the best ride and tyre wear.

Vga componet keeps showing up on the screen.

Assuming safely that you have a Dell E173 monitor, i would suggest the following steps to fix this...
1. Press the (+) button on your monitor to make it do an auto-adjust of the display.
2. On the on screen display (OSD) which can be evoked by using the menu button on your monitor - use the +/- key to get the factory reset option high lighted and press on the menu button to execute it.

This should take care of your problem, let me know how it goes!

No display, clipping sound appear

The clipping sound is the internal safety switch that keep shutting down the monitor.
It means there is an internal problem on the main board (overvoltage, bad component , short).
Try unplugging power cord and leaving it unplugged two or three hours, this will reset ICs by draining power completely from circuits, it is called hard reset, it rarely works.
CRT monitors waste up to 15 times more energy than TFT screen, if your CRT starts giving troubles, then it is a good time for upgrading it to a new TFT.

Sounds like a bad inverter or CCFT(s). Adjust the brightness to the darkest setting. If the display stays on longer, the you have a bad CCFT(s). If it still goes out the suspect a bad inverter.
