Hi Paul,
I know that you want a Kohler CH18S but I can't find the spec number you need (Kohler web site won't work with my browser), your Kohler engine deal ought to be able to look this up for you.

I have a Lincoln Ranger 8 with an Onan Engine. When started the engine runs at an EXTREME RPM. What causes this?

Check movement of the governor arm without it running. You should be able to move it by hand. If it is stuck, it could be the idle solenoid, or possibly something else more major.

Ranger tires

Believe it or not call Wallmart, they just might have the tires you need. Or try one of the tire .com places, just enter your tire and rim size, most the time they will be tax free with no shipping charge. might carry them. Hope this helps, please post solved on So I get credit for a solved problem if it does.

Low voltage at recepticials

If the front DOES NOT say "chopper technology", then the fine control knob MUST be turned all the way up for full aux power. Low engine RPM can also cause this issue. If your meter can read frequency, it should read a little above 60 Hz at full speed with no load.

SHOP MANUALS For the Onan engine

if you have the Robin, Kohler or other engine, just go here:
Scroll down to the bobcat 225 welders and select the correct or closest to yours as you can. your serial number did not cross.

For servicing the engine itself, I can find the specs, but Onan is quite tight with their manuals and discontinue a great deal of them so parts would need to be aftermarket in many cases. You might find hardcopy on Ebay, but the basics of teardown and inspection are the same across most of the flat twins.

Engine oil leaks out the gasket between cases how will i repair

Two options here:

1) The one i will suggest... send it to an authorized repair shop. Check with your local welding shop/store (Praxair has direct connection with the anywhere), they will ship it down to an authorized dealer.

2) If you are a mechanic or know how to change head gaskets, then take model and serial number of your engine (p.e.Kohler, onan or honda) and go to a autoparts shop and ask for the gasket, then just replace it.

Lincoln ranger 250 voltage problem

Check the current control resistor with an ohm meter. The center terminal should have a smooth rise or fall of resistance when measured to one end or the other of the resistor. If the resistor and the wiring to it are OK, check the shunt in the output it'll be by the "electrode" terminal. If both are OK you probably have a bad control board.
