Your system support only 2Gb, only 1Gb at one bank. Please Checkout http://www.memoryx.net/aspire53151.html

you can even have your system Scan "Scan My System" from this site to give you an accurate system details.

Hope this fix your problem!

If you in crease beyond the specified capacity I'm afraid your NorthBridge Chips will bear the cost soon or later since the BUS speed is limited

Probably your Operating System is a 32bit. 32bit OS can only read up to 3GB of RAM regardless of the capacity of RAM you install. For example you installed 2pcs of 2GB RAM, that makes it 4GB in total, 32bit OS will only recognize 3GB. upgrade your OS to a 64bit OS and you can upgrade your RAM up to 8GB depending on how much your motherboard can handle.

I would like to add memory to my acer 5315 notebook. I have taken the panel off the back, but I don't know where to put the new RAM in. I can only find how to replace memory, not to add more.

The ram location is right where you are looking. There are two memory slots available for ram. They are staggered one on top of the other. Release the side pins and the module will pop up at a 45 degree angle . Pull the module out in the direction and replace at that angle, then push the module down in place. You may only have one memory slot filled at this time, Therefore there would be an empty slot to fill.

Can the Acer Aspire 5102 WLMi handle more than 2GB of RAM? The specifications say up to 2GB.

It handles up to 2 x 2GB soDIMM modules. However, available memory will vary with operating systems; Windows 32bit supports 2GB max. for Applications out of the box and can be tweaked to 3GB.
You'll need a 64bit operating system to use more of the installed memory.

Hi,

The maximum memory that the laptop will support is 2GB, 1x1GB in each slot.

The memory type is DDR2 533MHz.

I have an Acer am5100-u5301a. Is there a bios upgrade?

If the specs read that you can operate with 4GB of RAM, then I believe the AMD690g chipset is not the culprit.

The RAM that you're adding may be defective, or incompatible with the existing RAM.

Another possibility could be a bad RAM socket.

I also doubt you would get a black screen due to adding more RAM than the system is capable of handling, it would still start, but would not utilize the additional RAM.

Black screen usually means bad RAM or incompatible RAM or bad socket

try to see if that memory is supported with your motherboard. The memory has something to do with that problem.

Problem with upgrading my acer extensa 5620z memory to 4GB

Hi there.
I recommend you get another stick of SODIMM to replace what seems to be the faulty stick.
If you are using XP or Vista X86 (32bit) then the system will only recognize 2.8 - 3GB of memory, only 64bit operating systems recognize the full 4GB.

Good luck ad thanks for using FixYa!!
