    I've looked through the service manuel and read the diagrams and can't find a 100uh 35volt there anywhere. this is a wd 52631 mitsubishi, not sure about the yolk either? maybe if you could tell me if it's on the pwb- e2p or light engine. I would have a better idea where to look, Never fixed a tv but soldering is not a problem. testing for values is also doable.

A problem with the single chip projection system is the ‘rainbow effect’. This occurs most visibly when bright white objects appear on dark backgrounds. When the observer’s eye passes across the image, the viewer perceives a rainbow distribution of colours. This occurs mainly due to the field sequential colour display technique and is not exhibited by three chip projectors. It is considered that the origins of the rainbow effect are to do with the concept of flicker fusion threshold.

Hi OK, friend.. Replace two Ic's Stk 392-110, and get in service menu settings , and adjust point by point. After replaced stk IC's, check if any resistor look brown or born, if yes, replaced it with 6.8 Ohms.SOme time SSB is defective ( small signal board, replaced it ) If you have questions?

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Could you take in digital image of the display? If possibly yes, can you pls post it here? The image though has to be 150K or less.

Hate to be the devil's advocate but some general ideas in some other models:

  • to a tech vertical line problem would be left to right not up/down;
  • if it were the vertical capacitor, then it would be foldover on top;
  • if it were the vertical IC, then most unit would go to protective mode;
  • if it were the yoke and if you have three tubes, then there should be 3 yokes;
  • retrace lines (Screen problem) are also described as vertical lines albeit fine, white.
  • might it be that there is no vertical IC in the sense
To your specific model, I was made to understand that it uses a digital 1080p light engine and a six-color wheel. Perhaps you can start verifying if the colorwheel turns. If not, then voltage measurement based on the schematic.

Pls post the display image. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

    ahh, now we both have problems.

    1. am not sure if you will be able to view my subsequent posts;

    2. your posted image of the problem indicates:

    • probable loose DVI connector from the main chassis to the light engine. Try to re-seat/reconnect and ensure positive contacts; or

    • possibly faulty optical/light engine. Not sure re Part number, might be something like 938P015020.
    Good luck to both of us.

Some things that can cause this problem
the B+ voltage to the Vertical IC can be dropping
due to a bad capacitor usually 100uf/35vdc
The pump capacitor is failing also usually 100uf/35vdc
this is also on the Vertical IC
Possible by unlikely the Vertical Drive IC can be getting
a diminished drive signal however this is far more common in a Toshiba
The Vertical IC may be failing as it warms up also not very likely it would be a rare failure the IC usually is good or bad

Lastly there was a problem common in Mitsubishi Projos
about the time yours was made
Silicon adhesive was used to hold a mod to the PCB
over time it eat thru the foil to pin 6 of the Vertical IC
perhaps that applies to your situation

    Dont be silly- no one would think you stupid because you didnt know of some obscure tech related acronym.

    IC= integrated circuits, but, here is some more information i found regarding the IC diagnosis and your tv:

    "Could be an IC or could be just the output transistor.

    It is a pretty sophisticated circuit and you cannot just replace one
    component and think that is all it will take. It really requires a more
    deep diagnosis by someone or a tech who knows how to check out the
    entire string of circuits in the vertical deflection system.

    You could replace the output transistor and see if that will cure it; I
    would give that a 50/50 chance of succeeding. It is a big transistor
    sometimes mounted on a heatsink, but is usually a separate power
    transistor that feeds the vertical deflection yoke that is mounted on
    the neck of the picture tube. You can trace the wiring back from the
    yoke and look for the markings on the wiring board which will usually
    specify the type of transistor it is.

    Then, if the transistor does not solve the problem you could replace
    the IC - a much bigger job. And requires a very skilled soldering job
    to get the old one out and the new one in. This is not for the faint
    of heart!"

System Reset
If the TV does not respond to the remote control,
front panel controls, or will not power on/off, press
the SYSTEM RESET button on the front panel with a
pointed object, such as the point of a pencil or end
tip of a paperclip.
The green LED will flash quickly for about one
minute. When the green LED stops flashing, you
may turn on the TV.

This just might work!!!!

kind regards
