My playstation 3 will turn on and the remote works but it will not find the game or DVD. I have tried the 3 hour long update and the quick update on the system and that did not work. What else can I do?

My system just turned off in the middle of me playing ncaa 2012. I just got the game. Now the game will not come back on. It turns on and the game sounds like its going to come out but it dosent. There is a green ligh then a yellow that when the disc sound like its going to come out. then back to red. Im pissed i just bought the game an hour ago

You should do a quick reformat by going to your settings on the PS3, Don't do the big reformat that takes hours, just do the quick one. If that doesn't work then you might need to do the big reformat of the HDD.

Try the steps mentioned below and the PS3 will work with the games disks as well;
1) Restore your PS3 to deafault settings under System Settings
2) Hold down the power button for several seconds until the light goes from red to green to red. Once it turns back to red, let go.
3) Finally, Hold down the power button again untill you hear 2 quick beeps... a few seconds. This will repair any damaged sectors in your HD.

The PS3 has a special Recovery Menu, which you can access in the following way:
1. Turn off Playstation 3.
2. Hold the power button down; the system will turn on and turn off once again.
3. Once the System has been shutdown, re-press you finger until you hear 2 consecutive beeps
4. When you hear the 2 beeps take finger off power button.
5. You will be prompted to plug in your controller via USB and then hit the PS button
6. The Recovery menu will pop up.

The current Recovery Menu supports:
• Restart System: Restarts the PLAYSTATION 3 System.
• Restore Default Settings: Reset all system settings back to default.
• Restore File System: Checks for corrupt/missing system files.
• Rebuild Database: Rebuilds the OS for the PLAYSTATION 3.
• Restore PS3 System: Fresh restore; Deletes everything and starts from Scratch.
• System Update: Update the PLAYSTATION 3 System

From the above select option "Rebuild Database". After PS3 has executed this DB rebuilding operation, the disc games will be visible again in the menu.

its the remote alot of these extra remotes ans acces.or corrupting the playstaion try reinstalling 3.0 default

Check to see if it's just one specific DVD that's not working.
Also, check if that problematic DVD works in your computer, for example.
If you see that it only doesn't work in your Playstation, perhaps your Playstation has a different zone than the disc you're trying to use.

I had a similar problem. My PS3 did not load the disk based games. Those disk based games were not visible in the game menu.

I did not have problems with the normal movie DVDs or Movie Blu Rays. Those were working fine. Also downloaded games were working ok.

Try:

connect your controller via the lead to your playstation, now download the update onto a memory stick and put that into the playstation and install via the memeory stick.

OK I FIGURED IT OUT!!! First turn off the system(ps3) make sure that you take the batteries out of the remote. Then when you turn it back on go straight to system setting, setting accessories, setting blue tooth device. AND THEN IT WILL TELL YOU TO HOLD DOWN THE START AND ENTER BUTTON DOWN!. Don't forget to put the batteries back into the remote. It took like 3 seconds.
