In the old days I would have said "Check the shear pin." But I just looked at the breakdown for this tool and it looks like they have put a clutch in this tool. The gear box will have to be disassembled and the clutch will have to be inspected and if the parts are still good, the clutch will then need to be torqued to the proper foot pounds. I hate to say this but, this is probably a job for a repair shop.

How do I remove the keyless chuck on my 14.4 cordless B&D drill

The chuck is held onto the shaft with a Philips screw. Open the chuck, insert the screwdriver and turn CLOCKWISE to loosen the screw. The chuck will still be connected to the outer thread on the shaft. Slide the drill direction slider to the middle position to lock the motor. Put an Allen key in and close the chuck around it. You will now be able to use that to twist the chuck off.

How can I remove the chuck?

Most drills have a chuck that screws on to a threaded shaft that extends inside the motor. Repair shops know how to "freeze" that shaft so it will not turn, allowing you to unscrew the chuck. One model of drill has a tiny hole that you insert a nail into to remove the chuck.

How to remove keyless chuck

open the chuck right up and look for a Phillips headed screw at the bottom. This is a left handed screw which means that you will have to turn it in the direction as if you are doing it up to undo it. On the shaft there may be a flat section on the drive shaft that you can use a spanner on to hold the shaft and use a pair of multigrips undo the chuck normally. If there is no place you can hold the shaft you may have to take the front of the drill off to get to the shaft so you can hold it there.

My impact driver is not this model its a dc827 but it quit hammering it just free wheels if you just slightly pull the trigger is kinda works is there anything i can do to fix this prolbem?

The pinion on front of motor is slipping on motor shaft. It seems to be just a press fit. Seems like a flaw in design. I had same problem. I took my dw056 apart and took pinion off motor and pressed groves into motor shaft with side cutter pliers. then pounded pinion back onto motor shaft. We will see how long this lasts the motor shaft is a softer metal. I feel the motor shaft should be hardened steel like the pinion and have a shear pin or some sort of spline to attach to pinion. Would like Dewalt to offer fix for this as I only used dw056 a couple of times before I had problem.

Chuck not engaging

The speed selector is between two speeds or the output shaft from the motor to the chuck is broken/stripped. If your drill has a clutch setting you may check to make sure it is on the lowest number possible.

Electric motor

You need an adaptor which would attach to the motor shaft (with a set screw) and provide threads onto which you can screw the chuck. I have never bought one of these, but possibly an internet search would yield a scource for such an adaptor.

Gear slipping in dewalt dw056

Those gears are only held on the motor with their tight fit, if yours is slipping that easily the motor will have to be replaced. The new motor will have that gear on it.

Throwing oil

i really dont worry about the leak near the shaft because with out the oil in the shaft there is a possibility that the shaft can jam. even dewalt new hammer when you purchase it come with the grease/lube like a toothpaste size. this is to lube the bits for the purpose the bit/shaft can move freely & also can hammer freely. our you can do is to dis-assemble the front end sleeve & remove the excess oil.will i agree weather can also change the viscosity of the oil. varsol cleaner can do the trick available at walmart.
