Beater Bar Does not turn

Hello,
I have a Eureka Boss 5890-5909 series upright. It is the model that does not have the adjustable beater bar speed slide control on the handle. It is the model that the first click of switch is for tile/hardwood floors and the next click is for carpet which of course turns on the beater bar. Well, it works great for hard floors and when switch is pushed for carpet nothing happens as beater bar does not engage. I checked the belt, hit the reset button (which wasn't tripped), and made sure there is no blockage to prevent from it turning. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

My motor was bad due to moisture even though it took a couple of months for the moisture damage to occur.

Also the beater bar only works when the handle is in the operating position. Meaning the foot release must be depressed and the handle tilted back towards the user.

YOU MAY HAVE A POSSIBLE BAD BELT OR THE MOTOR THAT RUNS THE BAR MAY BE BAD, THE OTHER POSSIBILITY IS THE SWITCH THAT TURNS ON THE BAR MAY BE BAD. OR A WIRE COULD HAVE COME OFF THE MOTOR. i THINK YOU DO KNOW THAT THE BEATER BAR DOES NOT RUN WHEN ON WOOD FLOORS.

I have the eureka boss 4495 widetrack and the end piece of the beater bar broke off. I guess I put it back together wrong when I put a new belt on. Where can I get a replacement part and will it work do...

Call the Eureka people (1-800-282-2886) and describe to them what the beater bar thingy that you broke is. Ask them if you can order that unit--if you think you can install it. Otherwise, ask them where to the authorized repair person closest to you is located. Price the repair versus a new vacuum and good luck.

No suction power on my eureka boss vacuum (vacuum bag has been changed)?

Most probably a clog in the neck. This is where the power head connects to the body of the machine.

Remove the base plate (screws in). Take a look at the back of the head behind the beater bar. There is likely something blocked in the neck of the unit. Clear it out and you will likely me OK.

While it is open take the time to remove anything wrapped around the beater bar.

Good luck, please rate this answer if it helps.

Beater bar is not turning... but vacuum is sucking fine.

Hello. Usually when the beater bar is not turning it is due to the belt breaking. The fix is to get a new belt and install it. Be sure to use a Eureka belt to get the best results.

Bare floor selection still rotates brushes

Your switch should have 2 different on positions. One for simple suction and one to engage the beater. The setting without the beater being engaged should be first position from off and the beater would be second position

Yes, you need to replace the belt. You should actually change this belt every year. Here is a link to the belt you need and the manual which has instructions:

Slipping belt onto motor shaft pulley

On most vacuums, you:
put the belt on the motor,

slip the beater bar thru the belt,

put the end opposite the belt into the frame,

stretch the belt and put the belt end of the beater bar into the frame.

Hope that helps!

The plastic ends on the brush roller have melted.

Bearings in the end of the beater bar have gotten dry/ dirty and created enough heat to melt the ends.
I'm afraid you need a new beater bar.
