Question about Toshiba 65HDX82 65" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television
Had two repair men out to look at my tv,(first guy could not understand why closing the door change picture to black anything above 480i). Touching av board the picture cut in and out so I replaced it. Not having any faith with the toshiba refered techs I changed it myself. Worked for awhile then went out, second Tech comes in and said it might be the hyper module. Well might and 500.00 dollars didnt cut it for me so I ordered the new module online. 4 month nationwide backorder, odds were with me when I heard that. 6 months later or two weeks ago I installed the new module and turned the tv to discovery HD, 4 year old set and it looked as good or better than tvs at circut city with there little digital input boxes (misleading to the consumer I think), The hyper module lasted 2 weeks exactly now Im back to 480i, sometimes it blacks out and anything above that is just black with audio. Was I on the right track? Oh ya the supplier said since I mounted it in the set there will be no returns. Did not solder in the hyper module, did not see any connection in the board to need solder. Is it just a mechanical joint to hold module in place during shipping? Thanks for your time Scott Kelley

SOURCE: Toshiba tz50v51 popping sound
Possible problems: * The TV set may be unplugged. * A fuse or circuit breaker may be blown or switched off. * The remote control unit (RCU) may be disabled. Solutions: * Make sure the TV/VCR are plugged in and the wall switch is on. * Check the fuse or circuit breaker. Test the outlet with a lamp. * Replace the RCU's batteries: if this fails exchange the unit.

Bounce horizontally usually means up and down, which relates to the vertical output IC. Solder IC301, IC401 pin connects==try again. You can easily isolate "bounce" problems by lightly tapping on the vertical IC heatsink....Let me know if you need further assistance.....T. PS. Though hard to find, a qualified tech could do that repair in home for 300. to 400.00...

Well, my thought is that there are a ton of knock off generic convergence IC's out there that usually hold up as long as yours did. Professionals like me will only use Sanyo original STK's. The counterfeit STK's out there are everywhere. Do some research on the web to locate Sanyo originals, they are out there.
