You are having right connection but only for voice call
some service providers are not providing data calls( Fax) by default
means if you have cabled landline then you might get data calls facility with it
but if you are having wwl or cdma type landline then you might not get fax facility by default
you just need to ask your service center for data call
and if needed just activate tyhat service and you will see your fax machine working

Cant fax or recive fax

Thier a couple of reasons this may be happening. If the Fax machine uses the phone line it may
simply be unplugged from the phone jack. If you dial out on the phone line and don't hear a dial tone
its probably unplugged. Some office setups use the netowrk and a fax server to send faxes if this
is the case check with your administrator to make sure this is still working. If you have an internet connection try faxzero.com this may also offer a solution also. If you have E-mail you could use it as an alternative to the fax machine. You can get print to PDF software to printout a file copy then just attach it to an e-mail.

I have a hp officejet all-in-one and I can't get the fax function to work. I have comcast digital voice with a rca modem. The fax machine dials and the line goes dead. If I call the fax number on the...

Since you have a DSL ( Digital Subscribers Line ), the HP Fax printer works on Analogue Signals.

To make the GP Printer work on Digital line, First step you can do is to Reduce the Fax Speed from Fast/Medium to SLOW.
To Do so, Click on Setup button on printer front panel - Choose Fax Settings - Choose Fax Speed - Set it to Slow and try to fax

If this does not work, you will have to connect a DSL Filter ( this is a 2 way port - 1 port for Digital line and another for Analogue )
You will have to connect this Filter to DSL Phone line - in the IN port and from the Analugoue Port - Connect Phone cable to Printer Line 1 EXTN Port at back of Printer

I found a canon fax phone 40 desk top model in my basement. evrything seems to still work . .. at least i am getting feed back anyway. i dont know how to hook it up to my current network of phones and...

That's an old faxphone (it came out in 1991). If it works, it faxes only -- no printer options to connect to your computer. It uses thermal fax paper from a roll, about $10 a roll if you can find it.

You're much better off getting yourself a current model (Canon Fax JX-210P for example) for well under $100. It prints on plain paper, can be connected to your computer to function as a printer, and can be a stand-alone copier.

Cannot send a fax

For a fax to work you do not need a broadband. What you need is a phone like. It seems that you are trying to use broadband for fax because it is the same phone line that they both are on. Sorry, will not work that way. If you trace back you will find that there is a little box that has the phone line coming into from outside. The box splits it into phone and dsl. It is this phone line that should go into the fax and not the dsl line.
So please remove the dsl line from the fax and connect the phone line and you will see that the fax works.

Fax won't work with new digital/internet phone system

True. ALL fax machines are analog devices. Internet phone lines are DIGITAL.

There is no way to make it fax reliably.

i had same problem trying to receive faxes until i changed phone connections.

according to a motorola manual (link below) this has something to do with being connected to a "proper analog phone line".

i had the phone line running from wall to a newer gateway (maybe 8 months) dec 07 to a maybe 2 year old compaq. kept getting that loop current error on the compaq when trying to receive a fax until i elimated the gateway connection and plugged the wall right into the compaq.

here's a link that might help: http://downloadmirror.intel.com/12655/ENG/Motorola.htm

see section 6, troubleshooting. hope this helps...

Problem with fax

Check your phone lines. You should have one that runs directly from the wall jack to the "L" port on the machine (there should be no other devices connected between the wall and the machine). If you have other devices connected (telephone, answering machine, computer modem, etc) they should be connected to the port on the machine that has an icon next to it that looks like a telephone.

Our new HP Oficejet Pro L7780 can send faxes but can't receive

Hi,

First things first, i really want to know how things being setup in your end. Let say for example, from the walljack what is the device connected to it. Or if your using one line for both incoming calls and faxes. Or if your using a DSL also for that same phone number for faxing/incoming calls.

Those are just severa factors that affect your problems. Meanwhile, i cant give you a solution on your issue since i still dont have a clear picture on are the devices connected with each other. ALso, its really advisable that you need to use the telephone cord that came out with the box.

Thank you so much. I remain.

Samsung CLX-3160FN Connection error

Let's isolate the problem: disconnect your modem from the wall outlet and connect the Samsung unit DIRECTLY to the wall using the LINE connector (not the TEL connector). If the unit is ok and your telephone line is clear, you should hear the calling tone when the HOOK/DIAL button is pressed. If it works, your theory might be correct, or you were incorrectly connecting the unit to the TEL connector (use the LINE conector instead). After the problem is solved, leave the Samsung unit connected to the wall and connect all others peripherals after it.

If the unit is not working after this test, take it to an authorize service center to have the modem (and maybe the power supply) board replaced.
