The DVD player powers up (does not shut down like some players with that power cap issue) but does not play any disks at all. I read a suggestions somewhere to use disk cleaner. Clean the laser? Could this be a firmware thing? How could I update the firmware?

Toshiba error 08 064b 000 (invalid partition table) How do I fix it. I tried using the disk but it doesn't work.

Invalid Partition Table is a hard drive error and possibly is a dead hard drive. Therefore I would check the drive for errors by loading your rescue disc and attempting to get back into it. If you cannot, fit a fresh hard drive and run your rescue disc that you made when you first used the laptop.

Useing toshiba recovery media center to create a back up of the computer 1/4 of the way through error code: 020123-F1-00000000

Hi, I bought a new Toshiba L850 today, installed Windows 7 (64 bit) and immediately attempted to create recovery discs (on quality Imation DVDs). I got the error described above and googled this site. This error prevents you from creating recovery discs. I have contacted both Toshiba support and support for the franchise that I bought the computer at. On another site a user reported the same problem and also contacted Toshiba support - "The second technician I talked gave me 3 options: send in the computer at a shipping cost (about $25), take it to the place I bought it, or pay for recovery disks ($29.95)". I'll be taking this computer back - it looks like it's broken out of the box.

Invalid disk error

Did you get this working? If not, then your DVD isn't supposed to be region free in the first place, and I can send you a firmware which I have used a hack in order to make region free. You can then take this firmware and follow the same instructions you used for the other firmware.

When done the machine turns off automatically, and you turn it onagain. Every time mine has stopped working this has fixed it. This might work with yours as well.
