Ghosting appears often because of bad toner. If cartridges have been refilled, they have wrong toner in them. If drum has worn out it will usually tell you. All parts for this machine cost too much. If toner is not the problem, probably best to get a new machine rather than pay to get it fixed. Brothers are cheaper to run.
This is usually caused by the left over toner not being properly cleaned from the transfer belt.
Open the printer front cover and close it. Wait for the printer to cycle. It usually make a little noise then stops. Then open the cover and close it again. Then print.
If the first page of the print out is clean. but the next page you print has a shadow of the first page, then you have a a problem with the cleaning mechanism.
Unfortunately the cleaner is part of the image transfer belt assembly which runs about $150 to $200. Unfortunately not terribly cost effective as compared to the original cost of many of these printers.
Sounds like a bad drum cartridge. Pull the toner/drum cartridge out of the machine and set it down. Press down on a (blue?) tab to release the toner cartridge, and you can lift the toner cartridge out of the drum cartridge. There is a cleaning blade in there - a soft plastic blade that rides against the drum and scrapes off toner that didn't get transferred to the paper. If it gets stuck off the drum surface, images repeat a few inches (one drum circumference) down the page.
A new DR-350 drum unit should fix it. have the machine's power on when replacing it. While the door is open, touch the CLEAR key. The display will read "REPLACE DRUM?" or something like that. Press 1 for Yes.
