You can buy an SD card at any Best Buy, RiteAid, Walgreens or on eBay.

Nuvi 610 does not recognise sd card

According to the manual, the 610 works with SD cards, which are limited to 2GB in size. It will not work with higher-capacity SDHC cards such as the one you're trying to use.

Tomtom shows a red cross over the SIM card and will not turn on.

This means it is not reading the SD card and that it needs to be re-formatted.

This is best done in a card reader and not the tomtom itself.
Right click on it and select format select FAT32 as the files system

Now connect the tomtom but don't let tomtom home run. exit TTH if need be.
You now need to select your tom tom which will also show as a drive.

In windows explorer select tools then folder options. Click view and tick the box for "show hidden files and folders"
It may warn you but you can ignore it.

Then just copy ALL the files from the tom tom to your SD card

DO NOT USE CUT AND PASTE !

Once all the files are on switch off the tom tom and insert the SD card

It should now work

I need a sd card for my vxa-3000

You seem to be saying you have a card but you lost it Which is it?

If you have the original card make sure there is data on it that is valid. If you lost the card ( and I don't know how you could do that!) then you will have to buy a new licenced piece of software. The licence is tied to the SD card Pirated maps will not work.

GPS says "check SD card"

You can try a smaller SD card (1GB max), but I think the real problem is that there have to be maps on the card - they're not built in. The unit originally came with a cd with extra maps. The unit has a built in mp3 player - try putting a few mp3s on the card, and use the player - that should tell you if it's reading the SD card, anyway.

When i start the lucca 3.3 mp3 it shows "upgrade sd card" and it locks up. I tried to reset but i only get this popup screen. Someone knows a cure?? thnx...

Hi,
I had same trouble with my Lucca 3.4 and I resolved it.
1/ From "Lucca 3.4 GPS DVD" I copied all files from /Recovery  onto SD card

2/  With SD card inserted I started Lucca3.4 pushing 2 buttons (together)
Switch ON/OFF and MENU, and he will reimage rom (took about 8min)

3/ when GPS auto-reboot-ed I pushed YES on screen and he started to upload
soft,files (took about 20min)

4/ after this I reinstalled maps from Lucca3.4 GPS DVD

Now my Lucca 3.4 works fine again !

Tom tom one xl wont accept SD card with map on

If you have TomTom that have the slot for SD card, then it should accepted the SD card. The instruction for how to use the SD card is simple, but it is hidden in the TomTom Home, that's why it's difficult to find it. Below are the instruction how to use the SD card.

1. Format the SD card (FAT32) and do not stick the SD in the slot yet
2. Run Backup (connect TomTom device to computer)
3. Disconnect TomTom from computer and turn off
4. Slide the SD into the slot and connect TomTom back to computer (choose "yes")
5. In the TomTom Home menu, Choosen Backup & Restore >>> and choosen Restore

TomTom Home will add all applications to the SD card. So the internal memory still have the applications and the SD card also had the same applications. Everytime you slide the card in, TomTom will automatic detect and use it as its primary storage, if it not detect, you can go to the device menu and pick the device to connect to.
Whenver you take the SD card out, then TomTom will use its internal memory.

Hope this helpful
