The remote control flashes constantly

You could buy a universal remote control and try the following NAD audio remote codes to program it with:
NAD
575 773 975
I read somewhere else that the 'Supplied Code for NAD receivers' was 033, but cannot confirm this. Try the first 3 first.
Universal remotes tend to be pretty cheap, certainly cheaper than buying one from NAD.
Good Luck

Unplug the receiver, let it sit for a minute or two then plug it back in. It's either in "mute" or in Protection. Generally, Yamaha's will say "Ck. Spkrs" If it still has a problem, post a comment and I will look up some sources and help some more.

You are probably connected to the pre-out jacks. These are not amplified. Connect them to the B speaker outputs(screw down connectors). If that won't work (and it should), you can connect to the "Presence" speaker connections(spring loaded connections).

Read this procedure to possibly fix the remote:

They also sell replacement remotes.
Zoom in on the picture of the original remote provided on the site (or look at your own) and get the actual remote model number.
or check eBay: search for "(model of the device or the remote) remote", check the 'include description' box. Usually cheaper than the vendors.

The NAD HTR-2 universal remote control has a design flaw in that some of the buttons will stick in the depressed position when they are pressed down at an angle. The result is that the function buttons flash red, the batteries eventually drain, amd the remote fails to operate. If this happens to your HTR-2 NAD remote, look carefully at the buttons, and you will find one which has stuck somewhat sideways in the depressed position. There is no need to service the remote. Simply release the stuck button by depressing it and freeing it from the stuck position.
