We replaced the lamp in our toshiba tv but only the red steady light and blinking green light goes for 8 times then steady red/green this is the second lamp I have put in with same results-old one really...

you just have to call the manufacture so they can help you reset your tv the tv has to know that you did put a new bulb in there just like your printer asks you did you replace the ink the tv has a simular question. you probaly missed the re-sync question that pops up when you turn tv on and you use your remote arrows to answer its easy the maker of the tv can give you the rest info then you will not have that problem anymore.

I heard a pop and screen wet black. red lamp

Lamp inside TV is broken and requires replacement. Pop sound was its breaking sound.
Lamp replacement procedure is written in user manual, pretty easy.
Please buy Sony original lamp for TV safety and avoid aftermarket/ cheap lamp.
Let me know if you need to download user manual copy.
Thanks.

TV shuts off after about 15 minutes of running. Shows steady red light on lamp indicator.

red indicator on the lamp is indicating the lamp is defective or the ballast isnt lighting the lamp. Try replacing the lamp. What model set do you have?
