Repost last comment on pt-47wx53g problem

Can you repost your last comment? I'm still trying to figure out how the fixya system works. I think you posted another comment after the one about the a-board check points, but I can't see it. Some other "solution" is the only thing I can see and I don't know how to make it go away because its completely useless. Thanks for your help so far!

Thanks I'll give it a go tonight and see if I make progress. Not sure how you get paid on this thing, but I'm quite sure I need to "accept" your solution to my original problem. Can't do that until you post something else to it. Thanks!

I'll check the signal boards too, but switching inputs doesnt improve anything. Most don't even show the vertical bar. Maybe only 1 does that and I have no clue which one it is. I'll research that further also.

Also Page 44 in the service manual has flowcharts for entering the service mode etc. How can I do that if I can't see what's displayed on the screen?

Hi, I post here my last comment, follow the diagram at page 44, leave the checkup at page 16, for some of the test you need raster, and the TV is in protection mode now.
From protection mode follow troubleshooting diagrams, I think is page 44/45.
There are many faulty component that can give you blank screen with no raster, the strange things is that the TV stays on, has sound and is not on protect.

Test also the sygnal boards (the ones with the AV connectors) and see if it makes any difference switching the signal to a different input, this TV has several ICs that manage the video signal, testing blindly will give no help. Follow the diagrams on manual.

I think the following was my last comment:
-----------------------------------------------------------------

You need to follow the troubleshooting charts at page 44 of user manual.
(download the service manual here)

Regarding the jungle chip, that is just a familiar name for the main computer CPU, service manuals rarely call it Jungle chip. Your jungle Chip is the main processor, IC4511, be careful handling the component arount the IC4511, some IC in there is sensible to static charges in your hands, better to keep fingers away.

In your case I would start testing following the diagram at page 44 of SM. I will also test the pico fuses at the base of convergence ICs, if the STKs had been replaced
That is what you do when the nature of the problem is not clear.

Since there is no protection mode on, the fault
can concern IC3001 and IC3002 that are vidio processors, and other parts involved.
If at any point you get the led on, and TV going in protect mode, with a flashing led, that is a step forward, means that the jungle IC (The IC4511) had detected the fault.

Start testing following the procedure at page 44, or same page on your version of service manual.

PT-47WX53G. TV got moved. Unable to move blue

The convergence ICs have failed which is very common when the set has been moved as a wek IC wont allow the color to be moved. You can get the PT52WX53G convergence repair kit from www.tvrepairworld.com which is the correct one for your model. The kit contains the parts and the CD with repair instructions.

Pt-47wx53g has red ghost. I tried adjusting convergence but some will not adjust

You have a problem with the convergence output IC's. They need to be replaced. This is a very common problem with all projection tv's as those IC's are high current components.

PT-47WX53G green convergence and wave on bottom of screen

Had same problem with Red. Could not adjust. Funny broken lines. Found this link:

http://cmpalmer.blogspot.com/2006/11/fixing-my-own-tv-part-ii.html

Replaced the ICs. Was disappointed at first 'cause it was still all bowed out, but then realized that the Convergence 2 "target" can be changed with the number keys. Working thru 1-9 and going back to readjust as necessary adjusted each one into perfect alignment.

Problem solved. TV works great.

I should add that while I am reasonable technically adept, I am a software geek and never soldered before... hardest part was getting up the courage to dive in and do it myself. Glad I did.

Panasonic pt-47wx53g

You will have two of the STK392-110's in the set so a good idea to replace both. The reason is one of the IC's is dedicated to RED horizontal and vertical and then GREEN horizontal, the other is dedicated to the BLUE horizontal and vertical and then the GREEN vertical. These are the best place to start for ghosting in the colors.
