Question about Xerox Phaser 8500/DN Printer

1 Answer

Xerox 8500 I had posted a questions regarding our Xerox 8500 machine. I have restarted the printer and it sounds like it's going through it's restarting process, but then it just sits there with the red light on. The screen display is also gone and there is no way for us to read an error messages etc. Do you know what could have caused this? The only thing that happened was that the power went out for about a second and then went back on. We are totally puzzled!

The printer printed one page indefinitely and somebody in my office just unplugged the printer from the power outlet to restart it (bad ideea..).
The printer has a much dimmer display now and keep printing one page regardles of the number of copies it was required to do.

We are attempting to print front and back for the first time on our Xerox Phaser 8500. We first printed page one then flipped the paper for page two. Printing page two smears or "ghost" the print on page one. Is this printer not set up to print front and back or are we missing a step?

I've seen this with copiers in that a one second power failure and I need to reset it from the diagnostics menu. I have also seen this on printers as well. Here's the instructions for getting to the diags menu
Press and hold the red button (info button) and the “OK” button simultaneously. This should take you into the Service Tools menu.
2) When in the Service Tools menu, scroll down to the “Enter Diagnostics” menu. Select the “OK” button. It will go through some cycling at this time for about 2 minutes. The screen may go blank a few times too.
3) It then asks for a confirmation, select “ok” again. The printer will go through a minute of rebooting. The screen may go blank a few times too. You are waiting for the diagnostic menu with the Test #00 “no test selected”
4) 7) It will ask for a confirmation. Select “OK” to confirm.
8) Then hit the up arrow until you go over test 100 to test 01. “Exit diagnostics.”Select “OK”.
9) It will ask for a confirmation. Select “OK” to confirm.
10) At this time the printer will again reboot for several minutes & then should come up to a ready to print.

Please can I had a video to solve clean density sensor for color laserjet 8500dn. Thanks

Soooooo did you cycle the power and its still there? If so turn the power off unplug and let it sit for a 1/2 hour to an hour and plug back in that will give it a chance to forget about everything and start from scratch. If it continues after that you probably will need to replace that sensor. Really though I was in a rush earlier and didnt get to post but your real problem was with the cartridge Ive done quite a few calls like that and the customers are always like it didnt say toner low. If you get color or black problem and its just one color its 99\% of the time a cartridge issue. Only if all the colors arent working then I would start calling around and asking questions. Are you using refurbs? Ive had alot of problems with those and that machine and strongly recomend not using them your just asking for more service issues and quality problems. by nivek on Jan 27, 2009 at 2:19pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 Thanks for the reply. After it slept the night and restarted today, the warning was gone. The cartridge wasn't refurb, and had been in the machine for probably over two years. Well anyway, it's going for now, and a little cleaner too.

Phaser 8500 error code 19,003.48:64663

19.003:48 is the error code 64663is the number of pages the unit has printed. the error indicates a power difference of +- 20% when trying to drive the printhead. The issue is the Electronics Module (System logic and power) or the Wave Amplifier (Printhead Controller). Both of the parts are fairly easy to replace. If it is the wave amp it is a somewhat affordable part.if it is the EM you should replace the printer. It isn't worth the fix.

Printer error on phaser xerox 8500 08 045 4348752 - can't find what the problem is

This error tells us that the Media Path Motor 807K16050 is bad.

This is usually caused by bad camshafts 008K02160 & 020K14800, so replace those too.

It is medium difficult and takes about 2-3 hours

Xerox 8500 has very blurry printing

You remove the right side cover, as viewed from the front of the machine. It is located about midway back on the machine, You want to locate the shaft for the drum, It is located on the motor on the end of that shaft. Once you remove the encoder, you flush it out with alcohol and allow it to dry before replacing and running.

Phaser 8500 on power up it prints a startup and 89 pages of junk

Hi,

You cannot turn off the start up page on this machine. The special character pages are called a post script error. You could install a PCL driver for the machine or try changing some settings in the Driver to "RAW". Use the link below for any other questions.

Error code 19,003.48:75856

That is a print head calabration fault. 99 percent chance the print head has failed. That would require replacing hte print head.
That is a common problem on the 8500. Look for a dealer in your area if you want to repair is. Xerox will charge over $200 to show up and $750 for the print head.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrr. Do you have a maintenance agreement? If you do call them back and tell them to get there asap.
Sounds very much like the firmware is corrupted. If you cant get to diagnostics, here is what you can try.
On the back of the machine open the panel to access the memory, remove the memory and power the machine up with the memory removed. Let it fault out, then replace the memory and start it again. See if that works.
Then remove and reseat the main board by turning the orangish knobs and sliding the board out and back in.
It really sounds like the upload corrupted and Xerox needs to resolve this for you.
They will try and say it's not their fault, but if they directed you to do the upgrade, they are at fault and should fix it for you.
Unless, and I very much doubt the old software is on their site, no you cant go back to the old firmware, you may try reloading it and see if it loads correctly.

Maintenance kit for Xerox 8500

Contact the company that you purchased the maintenance kit from.
They should have the solution or send you a replacement.
I know of no way to change the Xerox printer to match up with a non Xerox maintenance kit. They would not set the machine up to accept non Xerox products since that voids warranties.
