Xerox 8500 had power surge now it will not reset itself

Our machine had shut off due to a power surge in the office. The power was only off for a second and turned back on. The printer turned back on as well, except now it's "stuck" and keeps showing the red light. The screen is also not being displayed. Can anyone help please?

You will need to reset the Xerox using the reset function (look under the diagnostics menu).

This is a PEST (Print Engine Self Test) error = Printhead Left jetstack disconnect. The Left Jetstack is not drawing the expected power from the power supply.

Devices sharing the printer's AC outlet or circuit, such as another printer, coffee maker, space heater, may be placing intermittent demand on the AC circuit. This sudden demand creates a momentary AC voltage sag that causes the PEST test to fail. Verify the AC power source prior to replacing any parts for this error. Xerox recommends this printer be plugged directly into the wall outlet and not into a surge protector, battery backup or multi-outlet strip.

If none of these conditions exist, then the printhead is bad and will need replaced.

You've got some physical problem inside the printer.

See:

If your printer is networked, it can actually communicate with our support knowledge base directly, and troubleshoot itself.

Xerox 420 DC won't power up

Make sure the circuit breaker on the back (near the power cord connection) isn't tripped. If it is, toggle it to a fully off position, then back to on. If it keeps tripping, try moving the unit to a different wall jack and repeating the process.

Also, do not have this unit plugged into a surge suppressor. Xerox copiers have built-in surge suppressors. Adding another external surge suppressor to the circuit can cause the unit to malfunction.

Phaser 8560 error code

Most likely you are using generic ink or ink not made for that specific machine. The black ink is the one causing the problem. the printer will then need to be reset.

Xerox 8500 excessive ink use

Hi,

One of the reasons this could be happening is because you are using non-xerox ink so your print head needs to clean it out much more often. Be careful using other ink as this can destroy the machines printhead which is more expensive then the machine itself to replace. What you could try is installing the new printhead firmware, it might help! Follow the link below and good luck!

Maintenance kit for Xerox 8500

Contact the company that you purchased the maintenance kit from.
They should have the solution or send you a replacement.
I know of no way to change the Xerox printer to match up with a non Xerox maintenance kit. They would not set the machine up to accept non Xerox products since that voids warranties.
