I need to change the gas hoses for my Poulan 221

As I promised Felix an IPL for a Poulan "PP221 Gas Chain Saw Type 4" follows (may not be your saw):
The IPL (exploded parts list) for your saw is the only detail for fuel line routing and it is sketchy at best. Fuel components and part numbers are listed but may be on different illustrations. They are also beneficial with disassembly/reassembly: It is deceptive it appears the filtered line goes to the primer, it doe not! It connects to the carburetor input. Trace your existing lines and they will bear my fuel schematic out.

A typical fuel system and a couple of hints can be found here:
http://www.fixya.com/support/r3706813-2_cycle_fuel_system_repair

If your saw is not a Type 4, you can find the correct IPL here:
Poulan.com

The dash number of your serial number is the type.

Tensionner and guide wheel

I am going to assume you added bar oil and the oiler is functioning properly.
I think these are 2 separate but related issues.
Problem 1
Please look carefully at the "Handle, Chassis & Bar Assemblies" on each of these (they may not be your saw, check my work please).
I think this is your saw AVX:
http://www.ordertree.com/modelinfo/PWE/PP4218AVX-Gas-Saw/75.PP4218AVX-Gas-Saw.1.59.1.html
Tool-less bar adjustment.
Perhaps this one AV:
http://www.ordertree.com/modelinfo/PWE/PP4218AV-Gas-Saw-Type-2/75.PP4218AV-Gas-Saw-Type-2.1.59.1.html
Bar adjuster is part of the bar.

I think this is the best co figuration AVHD:
http://www.ordertree.com/modelinfo/PWE/PP4218AVHD-Gas-Saw-Type-2/75.PP4218AVHD-Gas-Saw-Type-2.1.59.1.html
Bar adjuster is part of the clutch cover.
You will need item 43 (2 each), and item 44, and if you have no scrench on the "Engine Assembly" item 44 to modify either saw above to this configuration. If you have the "AV" the bar may need replacement to operate with the new adjuster (ask Ordertree).
Instructions to Contact Ordertree (phone or e-mail) can be found here:
http://www.ordertree.com/cms/contact-us/9790.html
They will need the model and serial numbers to answer any questions.

Problem 2
The bar and chain provided are the least expensive available that will fit your saw. I think you are making extensive use of the bar nose in your carving and suggest you replace at least the bar. You need something with a replaceable nose. You might also look at carving kits. The Huskys may fit your saw, Baileys will verify or deny this if asked.
http://www.baileysonline.com/search.asp?skw=bar&PageNo=1

Chain Adjustment:
  1. Make sure the chain brake is off (gloves will protest your fingers).
  2. If necessary, loosen the bar nuts that are clamping the clutch cover in place (or whatever holds the clutch cover and bar on). They do not need these really loose - finger tight will do.
  3. Ease the tension adjustment until the chain is obviously loose.
  4. Using one hand, hold the nose of the bar up.
  5. While holding the nose up, adjust the tensioner so that the center of the chain just touches the underside of the bar, add a touch more.
  6. Continue holding the nose of the bar up & tighten up the bar nuts / bolts / quick-release system.
I think this covers 99.9% of possibilities. Please reply back (below) with your solution, Help me better answer others questions. I hope you found this most helpful.

Need chain adjustment wheel part # for poulan pro model pp4620apx chsain saw

Poulan.com
http://www.ordertree.com/modelinfo/POULAN-WEED-EATER/75.59.html
The dash number of your serial number is the type.
I think this is the what you seek:
http://www.ordertree.com/modelinfo/PWE/PP4620AVX-Gas-Saw/75.PP4620AVX-Gas-Saw.1.59.1.html
The "Handle, Chassis, and Bar Assembly" detail
Items 63 through 69 are parts, I think item 70 is a complete assembly ($22.78 without a kiss).

Your saw without tooless adjustment.
http://www.ordertree.com/modelinfo/PWE/PP4620AVHD-Gas-Saw/75.PP4620AVHD-Gas-Saw.1.59.1.html
The "Handle, Chassis, and Bar Assembly" detail
Item 64 (complete assembly) $2.53.

If my saw I'd ask if it can be modified!!!
http://www.ordertree.com/cms/parts-lookup-help/73.html
I suspect a vert simple modification. HTH
