My dell E207WFP lcd first flickers and then flashes red, green, blue, black, white and green color after some time of use ...

some of the capacitors are blown on the boards that are inside the unit
the lcd is on its way out. I recomend when getting a new one to turn it off whenever you are not at your pc. even though it goes to sleep after a while of no activity there is still a current going through the unit because if you move the mouse it will wake up. I know this because I was a bench technician and I have done board level repairs. These capacitors have anywhere from a 20000 to 40000 hour life span so when not at your pc turn it off!

I have a emachines t6410 pc and a 15 inch led monitor that came with it. It is apx. 5 yrs old. Am having issue with monitor turning on. If computer sits for a long period (a few hours) without being used...

There are two forces involved, one is the monitor itself and the other is a display property. To turn back on press space bar, and that will reactivate.

Your description sounds like your machine may be sleeping or hibernating, these are power options in the control panel...

Some versions of XP did not function very well, like sleep (meaning wake up takes really long time). Adjust those settings and your system should cooperate better.

IF you knew that your machine would take a long time to get going again, and that was normal, would that be okay? To test, press space bar and WAIT, a really long time, I would expect unit to come live, on it's own, eventually....

Amazing our need for speed, eh?

Dell monitor - when I put it in sleep mode (press the on/off button)it doesn't want to 'wake up' again when I return. I press the on/off button and briefly see the screen, then it goes black again. What's...

Computer is asleep or the controller board inside is failing to pick up the signal from the computer or you got a loose connection ether or here you need to check the computer and rule out the possiabilites.. From there if that does not wrok the monitor is going to need to be fixed.

I have a Dell Inspiron 530

I have a Dell Inspiron 530S, and it exhibited the same symptoms as rguggemos's & Wilburollie's.

I can put it to sleep, but when I try to wake it, it won't. The screen will stay black. I can hear the drives spin up, and the fans go on FULL blast, and the blue power LED stays flashing, but the computer will stay like that - no picture or anything. Then I'd have to press & hold the power button to force it off, then power back on. Not ideal.

The solution that worked for me?! On boot, at the "DELL" logo, hit F2 to enter the BIOS setup, go to Power Management, and change the standby mode from S3 to S1. The difference? S3 is a "deeper" sleep, w/ more components powered off, which is better, energy-wise, but it is more difficult to wake from. S1 is a "light" sleep. Give it a shot! Maybe it'll work!

Good luck!

- Mike

Stolen from another forum:

S0 (Working) is lit. The CPU functions in entirety; the conservation of power is on a basis of by-device.

S1 (Sleep). The CPU is stopped; The RAM is regenerated; the system functions in reduced power.

S2 (Sleep 2) The CPU does not have any power; The RAM is regenerated; the system is in lower mode of the S1.

S3 (Standby) The CPU does not have any power; The RAM regenerates at minimum; the power supply unit is in mode of reduced power. This mode is also called “Save to RAM”.

S4 (Hibernate). All is powered off, but the memory was saved like temporary file on the hard drive. This mode is called “Save to disk”.

S5 (Off) Everything is shutdown. Means you need a full reboot.

Frustration

It must be your video card not working properly. Check first if the monitor cable is firmly inserted in the video port before contemplating of changing your video card or buying a new monitor.

My PC will only start and stay on in safe mode. When I start windows normally, it stays on for 5-10 mins then goes to a Black screen....WHY????

It may be going into sleep mode. When the screen goes black, try pressing the space bar on the keyboard to wake it up. If the computer wakes back up again, then you may need to adjust your power settings. Try it and let me know what happens.

PC or monitor, signal problems

your monitor is telling you it's on it's last legs..either that or your compaq has a bad video section. either is more vital than a video cable being loose.
