Question about Cyberhome DVD-655HD
Have used 1Click DVD for 2 years and have had no problems using the homemade discs. I've used DVD+R and -R with no problems using the compression method of recording. When I bought my Gateway Notebook it came with a Phillips DVD+/-R burner capable of DUAL LAYER burns. CYBERHOME does not recognize the disc at all. In fact, all remote function stop and I have to eject the disc to reset. Problem is only on dual layer burns. Anyone know about this or what could resolve the problem?

it sound like a defective laser, but first try a cleaning. remove the cover find the laser. using a q-tip a rubbing alcohol, dip 1 end into the alcohol & gently rub the laser lens, the using the dry end of the q ipt remove the access by aging gently rubbing the lens. if it still does not work the laser is most likely bad. good luck.

SOURCE: Remote Control problem
You may be able to find one on ebay. Otherwise you would have to get a JP1 programmable remote and either have it learn the keys from a working remote or download the file to program it for the CH300. A fancy remote like that costs as much as the CH300 so it may be more cost effective to just get a new player.

I have the same model player it pauses some of the times on some disks in some locations, I read at videohelp.com a resolution for this for skip frames for those who use PAL and mine skip frames after pausing though I have not tried PAL perhaps this remote code solution might fix this or some have had firmware updates though I could not find any firmware updates as any solution by CyberHome being this happens only happens some of the time it might not be possible to resolve this and taking it to a repair shop likely would not be worth it I am unsure if some software versions helps this Please let me know what you find out, okay? Email does not always go through, hence if you do not get a reply in 24 hours after you email me please try to contact me else how, okay? The optical laser pickup is fu.k.d up. You might as well throw away this cheap piece of sh.t and buy you a Sony or Pioneer. There is a reason why name brand costs a little more- they invest in R&D and product quality testing.
If your handy you can open this puppy up and install a new optical lens, but why bother when you can just go out to the store and pick up a decent DVD player at a reasonable price.
