Question about Samsung RS2534 Side by Side Refrigerator

Repost to catriver about ice machine

The Ice Tray twists past the fill tube perfectly, however it seems to be intended to twist a long ways. The sensor that registers when it is time to dump had gone bad at some point in time. The tray that came with the new motor dumps fine, luckily. Although I still had to force the new assembly in order for it to turn all the way. What I did was refabricate the cam on the large cog to where it registers at the point of the tray dumping ice, even though it doesn't make the full twist. As far as I can tell everything is working now. I kept one good cog just in case someone comes up with an idea that helps me to fix my machine properly. If you have ever run into a failure like mine I would like to know what fixed it. I am thinking that the motor just doesnt receive enough power to twist completely, causeing the motors overload shutoff

  • to occur before it triggers the other switch. There must be a relay or power supply to this unit that isnt working completely. I can Also post pictures of what I did, and a breakdown of parts involved if it helps anyone else with this same problem. Let me know what you think. The part number on the motor assembly I bought is DA97-00258C. It cost me about $75, I saved a little money buying it locally but you can also get one here: This assembly is the 7 cube tray that produces cubes that look similar to little footballs or something cut in half. Very small unit. I understand it is NOT the most common thing seen. I mention these things, because there is no picture at the link.

I have exactly the same problem in a Samsung RS2577SL side by side. The motor is still getting power after it stalls, and you can help it with your finger (pushing hard) to advance to the switch detent on the cam. You can't move the tray at all if the motor isn't getting power. I purchased a new icemaker from It worked fine on the 1st test cycle, but never cycled completely again. I think the motor is getting low voltage, but I don't know what it should be. Anyone have a schematic for a Samsung icemaker?

My ice tray moves fine and makes ice but for some reason it won't release the ice when it turns. Then the water tries to fill up over the full tray and makes a big mess. Any suggestions?

Either the icemaker support is broken, DA61-02205A or the ice tray is damaged or has lime buildup. The ice tray is supposed to twist when it flips: an off-center stud on the tray catches the support, while the tray is still turning. If it does twist but does not release ice - replace or clean the ice tray, DA63-01453B

On my VISB542SS the ice maker , water leaks into the drawer when ice is being made, Ihave removed the unit to check for leaks bot find none.

The ice tray releases the ice because the mechanism twists the tray during the end of the cycle. Sediment builds up in the ice try over time and the smooth Teflon surface is no longer smooth, and the ice can get a "grip" on the tray. Then when the tray is twisted, a few cubes remain in the tray. When the measured amount of water then flows into the tray on the next cycle, it is too much. It freezes over the top of the tray, and the next time the tray is twisted, no ice falls out. When water is injected after this, it just runs off the top of the tray into the bin, freezing the ice in the bin. Replace the ice tray every 3-4 years with a new ice tray, and the problem disappears.

Amana ARSE67RBW ice maker fill tube broken

You pull/twist most of them out from inside the freezer if you still have enough left to get a hold to. If you don't you can find a knife or something to wedge in it to twist.

Ice tray sometimes stuck when dumping off ice

Your icemaker tray has an update for the water flowing over the tray.  You will need to call a qualified LG technician to get it replaced.  Also, the tray is twisted because it binds itself against the hinge pin on the left side.  To stop this, spray some cooking spray oil in the left hinge pin and it should unbind itself and return to normal.

    Ice maker still not working

Flayel, there was a service flash on this ice-maker. ASC20060525001. Has to do with the fill tube freezing up and the tray hanging up. As the ice tray twist to harvest, it gets hung up on the tube and is pulled from the mount position. They revised the fill tube, part number DA63-02928A. Now Im not saying this is your problem, but it's worth taking a look at. back.

    Ice Maker not dumping

Sailor, Samsung put out a service flash on your model regarding the ice maker fill tube. What is happening is that ice is forming on both ends of the fill tube. When the ice tray twists in the harvest it is hitting on the fill tube and pulling it from it's mount. Could this be why the drive motor seems to weak. The flash number is ASC20060525001. They redesigned the fill tube, part number DA63-02928A. Just trying to help you find an back.
