Question about Samsung RS2534 Side by Side Refrigerator
The Ice Tray twists past the fill tube perfectly, however it seems to be intended to twist a long ways. The sensor that registers when it is time to dump had gone bad at some point in time. The tray that came with the new motor dumps fine, luckily. Although I still had to force the new assembly in order for it to turn all the way. What I did was refabricate the cam on the large cog
I have exactly the same problem in a Samsung RS2577SL side by side. The motor is still getting power after it stalls, and you can help it with your finger (pushing hard) to advance to the switch detent on the cam. You can't move the tray at all if the motor isn't getting power. I purchased a new icemaker from repairclinic.com. It worked fine on the 1st test cycle, but never cycled completely again. I think the motor is getting low voltage, but I don't know what it should be. Anyone have a schematic for a Samsung icemaker?

Tips for a great answer:

The ice tray releases the ice because the mechanism twists the tray during the end of the cycle. Sediment builds up in the ice try over time and the smooth Teflon surface is no longer smooth, and the ice can get a "grip" on the tray. Then when the tray is twisted, a few cubes remain in the tray. When the measured amount of water then flows into the tray on the next cycle, it is too much. It freezes over the top of the tray, and the next time the tray is twisted, no ice falls out. When water is injected after this, it just runs off the top of the tray into the bin, freezing the ice in the bin. Replace the ice tray every 3-4 years with a new ice tray, and the problem disappears.
