All the buttons work, I just don't hear a tone when depressing them or at the end of the cooktime on my microwave. Model rmc275pd,rmc305pd,gmc275pd and gmc305pd are listed on the Use and Care Guide.

On page 11 of the manual:

Disabling the timer reminder tones:

To disable the reminder tones, press and
hold the Timer Set pad for 5 seconds. To
enable the tones, follow the same step.

To shut off all (audible) signals except for error tones and the hidden function signal:

Press and hold the Stop Time pad for5 seconds. A short tone will sound to tell you the signals have been changed. Repeat the above step to turn the signals back on.

If that doesn't work, the next thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so.

Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

Whirlpool microwave start button not working

There are 2 possibilities the first is that the button is locked. Some modern microwaves have lock buttons so children do not play with them. To unlock it you can try either holding th "start" button until you hear a tone of hold the "stop/end" button until you hear a tone. If that does not work it means that the button it self underneath of the plastic is broken or blown which means that it must either be repaired or the microwave must be replaced. For the price it may be more cost effective to replace it is the button is broken.

I recently bought a Whirlpool microwave. I would like to know if there is a manual telling how to use the buttons on the keypad? When the button says "popcorn" I have no idea if I just push...

Here is a link to a the product page for one standard Whirlpool microwave model currently available:

http://www.whirlpool.com/-[MT4155SPQ]-1001410/MT4155SPQ/

And here is a direct link to the User's Manual for that microwave oven (model # MT4155):

http://www.whirlpool.com/digitalassets/MT4155SPS/Use%20and%20Care_EN.pdf

To view the Product Support Page or the Owner's Manual with Operating Instructions just use your mouse to click on the link, which is the underlined and highlighted text just above. This will open a new web browser page automatically for you and allow you to view the information at the website indicated and the contents of the Owner's Manual.

You may need ADOBE READER installed on your computer to read PDF documents.
You can download this free at WWW.ADOBE.COM if necessary.
Click on the DOWNLOAD ADOBE READER button on right side of the ADOBE home page when you get there, then follow the onscreen instructions to install the software on your computer.

See page 10 of the manual for detailed instructions on how to use the POPCORN feature in that microwave. Here is an excerp from that section of the manual:

To Use POPCORN:

1. Place popcorn bag on the turntable and close the door.

2. Touch POPCORN once for Regular, or twice for Snack.

Touch START, or wait for the microwave oven to start the

popping cycle automatically.

When the cycle ends, "END" will appear in the display, and

the end-of-cycle tones will sound, followed by reminder

tones.

3. Touch OFF or open the door to clear the display and/or stop
reminder tones.

I hope that was helpful to you, good luck and take care.

Joe.

On our new microwave there is 2 buttons for defrost. what is the difference? it does not mention defrost in the booklet we got with the unit.the mdl.# is GMH5205XVB

Using the Auto Defrost feature on my microwave oven

How do I use the Auto Defrost feature on my microwave oven?
To use the Auto Defrost feature on your microwave oven, please do the following:
  1. Unwrap food, place on the turntable, and close the door.
  2. Touch Defrost.
  3. Select food by entering 1 for Meat, 2 for Poultry or 3 for Fish, or touch Defrost repeatedly to scroll through the food selections.
  4. Enter the weight in pounds:

Meats and Poultry can be set from 0.2 to 6.6 lb (90 g to 3 kg).
Fish can be set from 0.2 to 4.4 lb (90 g to 2 kg).

Doneness may be adjusted at this time by touching Cook Time.
  5. Touch Start. The display will count down the defrost time. When the cycle ends, "End" will appear in the display, and the end-of-cycle tones will sound, followed by reminder tones.
  6. Touch Cancel Off or open the door to clear the display and/or stop reminder tones.
The Defrost system has 3 categories: Meat, Poultry and Fish. It should not be used for food left outside the freezer more than 20 minutes and frozen ready-made food. Use the following chart as a guide.

'Start' button won't depress, seems jammed; timer knob broke off

the button is stuck because of food buildup over the years underneath the button, this happens even to newer ones after about a year of use, new microwaves are cheap and the lower end models start at only $35 from walmart I would reccomend buying a new one, newer microwaves use less power and are more effecient so a new one will pay for itself in saved electricty costs after about 2-3 years of use.

Complete functioning control panel but nothing works.

This is a problem with the control panel assembly, which we repair nationwide for $32.50 postpaid. Sometimes the bulbs short when they fail, and that damages the control board. This also can happen when bulbs are removed or installed without first unlugging the oven or turning off the breaker. High pitched hum/buzz

By high-pitched, you mean it is not that same frequency as when it's cooking? Is the tone near or the same as the beep you hear when you press a key? Please post a little more information so we can help better.
