Question about HP DeskJet 812c InkJet Printer
HP Deskjet 812C will not stop printing random letters and symbols. I have tried cancelling all print jobs and that does not work.
I had the same problem. I fixed it by using an elevated command prompt to clear the print queue, turned off the printer, removed all the paper from the printer, restarted the printer, at this point let it try to print - it discovers it is out of paper and cancels the print job, clearing the buffer. I paper back in the printer and pushed the paper button - it printed out one line of random characters, and then resumed normal operations.

I had the same problem hooking my old HP Deskjet 812C to a computer running Windows XP with a parallel printer cable. I tried changing the cable to a new printer cable and the printer was immediately detected and installed on reboot. I think my old printer cable might not have been bi-directional.

Try and re-install your printer drivers...first remove the drivers and delete the printer...then re-install.
