Question about Kenmore 22422 Top Load Washer

Kenmore 80 series, won't spin

My washing machine won't spin. For a while I was able to run the load then advance to the next spin cycle and it would just spin out in a couple of minutes. Today, I just makes a grinding noise on all the spin cycles and doesn't move. I don't know if it matters but the center piece will turn clockwise loosly. My husband and I are pretty handy with the right information. I would like to try to fix before buying new. Thanks for your help.

My washer stopped spinning a couple days ago. The middle part will turn manually, but the bottom middle part will not move even an inch. It'll go through the cycles, but when the spin comes up, it just makes this noise like something is either grinding or something is stopping it from moving.

My kenmore ad 80 series washing machine won't spin

The lid switch is probably out. Bypass it and see if she magically comes to life. Their are 3 wires to the lid switch 2 of which are live wires. Jumper them 2 live wires and see if she runs in spin.

Kenmore series 80 washer won't drain after wash cycle

Try the 'drain' portion of a few of the other cycles (heavy, perm. press, delicates) and see if it will drain/spin there. You can also try advancing the timer slowly through the 'spin' portion to see if it kicks in anywhere.

If it will rinse and spin in the other cycles, you most likely have a bad timer.

Hope this helps.
