I would try some CLR on the end of a Q tip and scrub down all of the contact points to clean off any corrosion. Then I'd use the eraser end of a pencial and remove any last bits of residue. Then reinstall batteries and try it. If iyt still doesn't work, then it is not a cost effective fix. You can get a replacement used, working N2000 (or F-301...its the same camera) on eBay for no more than $25.

Camera - Nikon N2020, Problem is shutter curtain is locked in the closed position. Camera works in all other aspects but film is not exposed.

From what you've given, it sounds like the shutter is fried. If you're wanting to keep the camera, and use it, you'll need to contact a repair technician and have them take a look at it for a repair estimate - assuming it's able to be repaired. Estimates will run you around $35 most places, if there's no shop near you KEH Camera which has a website is quite good. But, the N2020 has an electronic shutter which was never truly intended to be replaced, and no longer manufactured by Nikon, so the only source of them is scrounged from other cameras that have been scrapped for other reasons.

The N2020 is currently available online (ebay and others) for $5-20, so it'd probably be much cheaper to do this, than repair yours. I picked up a never used example of the 2020 with manuals, paperwork, and box on ebay for $10 a couple of years ago.

The same thing just happened to my Nikon FE, and my estimates have been ranging anywhere from $105-145 to get it fixed, so the decision of whether to repair or replace if really left up to you. But, as I said often replacement is cheaper than repair, unless you have some attachment to your camera (which I do, and which I'll have repaired).

Mirror locked up on Nikon F75

Try pressing and releasing the shutter button. If that doesn't do anything, then turn the camera off and on and press and release the shutter button. If that still doesn't do anything, then turn the camera off, remove and reinsert the batteries (or a fresh set, if readily available), turn the camera on, and press and release the shutter button.

I ran across a Nikon N80 last week which hadn't been used for many moons. I tried the shutter and the mirror promptly locked up. It took about half a dozen tries, but the mirror eventually shook loose or whatever, and the camera now works perfectly.

If the above procedure doesn't do it, then you may have to take it in to a good camera shop for a CLA (clean-lubricate-adjust), the camera equivalent of an automobile tune-up.

I have a Nikon N2000 it was givin to me and it is virtually new except the baterries were left in it and correded the friend that gave it to me took out the batteriesand cleaned( the best he could) the...

Hopefully your friend cleaned the battery compartment with something like baking soda to deter the acidic chems of the batteries, without letting moisture get into the rest of the camera. Then, I would take some fine sand paper or steel wool to clean any rust or currosion off the battery contacts. After this, place the new fully charged batteries in position and give it a try. Good Luck!

Just need specific info on lens to buy

nice camera, the 28mm to 80mm lens that came with the camera is a fine light weight lens. if you go to a 200mm or 300mm lens weight might be a problem as the lens mount on the N55 is plastic. not a problem with 28 - 80mm. i would look fore a light 200mm lens. not necessarily nikon
