My model A901 Kenwood chef began to smoke and give off an acrid buring electrics smell whilst creaming cake mixture (100g butter, 100g sugar & 2 eggs!). I had made another cake just before this one too. I know that it is old and I suspect that the smell is coming from the motor. Do you know what is wrong with it and can it be fixed?

hi
just had the same problem PLUS it stopped all together. I had this before and a friend of mine replaced some sort of copper wire and fuses? and told me that it will work BUT it is not far away from giving up, the motor.
so here i am in the middle of new zealand and have ,first time in my life, NO kenwood handy for christmas baking. desperate now, dont know if one can replace the motor on a 30year old mixer. any ideas for me? cheers and hopefully yours is not in such a bad shape.
