I would call 18004myxbox and talk to technical support. You may be able to send it in for repair.

MY SONY LAPTOP PCG-GR370 WHEN STARTING UP GOES TO A BLUE SCREEN WITH A MESSAGE THAT READ UNMOUNTABLE-BOOT_VULUME (STOP 0X000000ED)

Hi...sterling3k5

1. Uninstall any softwear you may have put on the computer before the problem started.
2. Do a complete System Restore: Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore.
This will bring your system back to a time before you installed the softwear or Microsoft installed drivers, etc.
Note: Just be sure to use a date in a darkened box before your trouble start date.
If after you have done the above and your still getting the blue screen of death, the installed drivers, softwear, etc might have corrupted the Operating System.
If that happened then that means either repair or reinstall the operating system.
You will need to do the following:
1...Repairing the Operating System...
A...You will have to have the Operating Dics that came with the computer
It will have your product key number that came with the computer, you can also find it on the tower, or under
the bottom of your laptop, or maybe the piece of paper that the CD orginally came in may have the number on it.
You can also download a small program and it will tell you your product key number.
Go to the following webpage to download your FREE key finder.
http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder/
B...You will now insert the disc into the CD/DVD player
C...Restart the computer
D...When the window opens that tells you to press "Any" key, you will press any key you want to press.
E...If you do not receive a message that says "press any key to boot from CD", then then the computer is not ready to boot from a cd.
To correct this problem you will have to go into your computer's Bios and change the computer to boot from a CD.
To get into the Bios, shut the computer off, restart, while the computer is starting up keep tapping F1 as the computer is starting up.
When you are in the Bios, select to boot by CD by moving the cursor with the direction arrows on the keyboard.
Once you have selected to boot by cd the exit and restart the computer...the disc is already in the cd/dvd player.
Your system will boot then from the cd.
F...After a minute or less it should ask you if you want to Quit Repair, or Continue.
You will select repair this time, but you may have to come back here and select Install if the repair does not work.
It will ok the agreement document if it asks you too.
Tap F8 on your keyboard to pass it when ready.
It will ask you if you want to Install, Repair, Delete Partition, or Quit.
Select Repair
Inside the box there will be one or two partitions.
Choose the largest partition.
After you have chosen the largest partition, you will then press the "r" key to start the repair
After the repair is complete then you will need to restart your computer.
G...Computer Restart
After the repair is complete, shut the computer down (the computer will shut down a few times during the installation of the operating system
that is normal).
Then restart your computer, when the computer restarts it will have a box to put your product key...put the product key in the box.
Answer any questions.
The computer should start up as if it was a new computer.
You do not need to re-register
You can now remove the disc.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If this fails to clear your blue screen of death then you have a hardware problem.
It could be faulty ram
If you still get the BS (Blue Screen), then you have two choices.
1.Reinstall the entire Operating System and you may have to update some drivers.
This will require you to go back to the start of the repair info.
2..Take your machine in to have the hardware tested.
Keep in mind that if you do a complete reinstall of the Operating System you will lose all the information on the computer, such as pictures, programs, videos, everything you installed will be gone.

My xbox will not read discs it just says open tray

I found a solution that works for me after a long period of time with this problem.

Get an air spray canister (just compressed air), open your Xbox's game tray, take the disc out, then spray the air along the tray, moving side to side inside the Xbox. You may want to spray into the vents, too, just to be sure.

This worked for me, and it was the only thing that worked for me. I had already tried hitting the console with the controller (gently), and doing the stuff Microsoft recommends etc.

If that doesn't work, you could try gently knocking the top of the Xbox with your conroller, when you put the disc in, as I've heard that works for some people.

Another thing that works for some people is taking the disc out, closing the tray, then when it goes to Open Tray, open the tray, put the disc back in and then closing the tray again.

I just burn a writeable cd from my desktop pc using windowa movie maker. I can play it back on my pc no problem but when I insert it into my dvd player it reads no supported files found.windows used high...

Computers use video files such as AVI, WMV, MPG etc.

DVD players use VOB video files, and will not recognise the computer video files.

Unfortunately, Windows Moive Maker cannot create VOB files - you will need another piece of software to convert the WMV file Windows Movie Maker creates to a VOB.

A lot of disc burning programs (e.g. Nero) include video converters. See if you've already got one on you computer.

If not, try Googling 'WMV to VOB'. There's quite a few free ones out there.

Hope this helps,

Matt

After inserting a disc the dvd goes into the machine, the menue box on the tv screen changes to loading, stays on loading for a short time then pushes the dvd back out. The machine never changes to play.

the dvd player is unable to read the disc. either the disc is scratched and cannot be read or the player needs cleaning. cleaning discs are available pretty much anywhere. sometimes simply blowing into the area when the tray is open can temporarily fix the problem.

It only plays Normal Xbox games

The open tray and unplayable disc is because the lens isn't strong on the drive and needs to have a Pot calibration done to it to make the lens signal stronger. That should fix the open tray/unplayable disc issue. I have done this to quite a few drives and all have been working fine since.

Ongoing Playstation2 Slimline issue

Hi...
The laser wont go on unless the disc is IN and the cover is closed.
There is a disc brake post coming down from the LID . If it's broken , the disc wont spin/read.
The post is on the back right of the LID it (normally) goes thru a cutout that moves the brake out of the way.
Other troubles are debris on the worm gear that drives the laser assembly back n forth.
If the post is broken drill out the old one and put some kind of plastic or wooden stick about 1/4 inch long in it's place

MY NIN.WII IS NOT PLAY'NG ANY GAME,THE SCREEN SAY'S SEE THEMANUAL

I think it's safe to say that your Wii is broken. Phone Nintendo if it's under waranty or look on eBay for a replacement drive, it's quite easy to fit and you should be able to Google up a guide.

Acer Aspire 5100 no longer "sees" its cd/dvd drive- anywhere.

You can check the BIOS to see if the drive is recognized and even attempt to boot from the drive using a bootable CD to verify it is functional (if using the Windows disc - just verify it reads - DO NOT REINSTALL)

If the drive works use the following to get the drive back in Windows:

Always backup your registry before editing and use care to find exact key!
Start Registry Editor (Start, Run and type in regedit then click)

Find "UpperFilters" and "LowerFilters" (and "UpperFilters.bak" "LowerFilters.bak", if they exist) value under the following key in the registry, and delete it:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Quit Registry Editor.

Reboot.

NOTE: You might need to reinstall any CD recording apps you have, if they start to not work completely, after doing this.

When I insert a game into my Playstation 2, sometime it will say that it is reading the disc, but then after a few seconds, it says that the disc cannot be read. And other times when I insert a game, it...

After awhile some games with the purple, black, or blue reading sides and DVDs won't load. The laser in the Playstation 2 either goes bad, or gets shifted out of place. On my Playstation, the laser shifted lower than usual due to moving it. Some people prefer to fix this on their own, while some people pay a professional.

Has trouble reading discs (intermitant) when burning

There are two common causes for these kinds of problems: software doesn't match, or media doesn't match. also, there a lack of info in here. is drive capable of reading dvd's when it is used for other purposes? 1. are you sure you got the right firmware? check for updates on brand site or on google. 2. try using several types of media from diffrent brands. some drives cannot read specific media (for instance, sony drivers sometimes having trouble with JVC media). 3. the least common, but worst option by far is a hardware problem. if drive is bad, you should try and replace it in case your warrenty didnt expire.
