Reinstalling XP with a new HDD?

Hi,

I recently had to get another hard drive for my laptop as there was abit of a accident that happened with the other one.
Tried to install Win XP but it wasnt picking up my new hard drive at all in the setup, so just to make sure it was working correctly I installed Vista and that worked fine, with me not having a vista business product key I need to reinstall XP but im worried that if I do it will not work as XP doesnt hold the drivers needed for SATA HDD. I do have a recovery disk that was made in the first boot up of the machine, will installing this solve the drivers issue and install it back to its original state? Or will I have to make a Bootable XP disk with the drivers needed integrated to sort it out?
Thanks in advance
Below are a couple of details

Philips Freevents X55P
Toshiba 160GB MK1652GSX SATA HDD

Make a clean installation of XP with prior formating the Hard Disk Partition (where you are goint to install it)

For the driver issue, I am not sure if you have all drivers for your MOBO. (included in MoBo CD) and the driver for LAN Card, VGA or other devices drivers.

Let me know in bit more detail of other drivers which you have and have not? Try surfing the website to locate the exact drivers and most of driver you will get with optimum cost.

I can't format my HP Compaq 6720s Notebook, win xp say can not hdd drive ,but i'll get new hdd

The reason XP cannot detect the hard drive is because thr hard drive in this model HP is a SATA hard drive and the Windows XP installation CD does not have the SATA controllers on this CD.
To install XP on a SATA hard drive, please click on this link and follow my instructions :-

Troubling in sata connection

  • I suppose there is a jumper(beside the power pin) on your new HDD,
  • if its true the your HDD supports 3GB/s mode but your motherboard does not .
  • So place the jumper on the HDD on 1.5GB/s combination.
then
  • Disconnect the 80 GB,
  • Connect the new HDD,
  • Boot from any bootable xp or vista or any disk tool like erd commander and try to format the new HDD.
  • Then connect the new HDD and boot from it.
Tell me what happened.

Cannot find hard drive while installing MS XP on a hp nc6220 laptop.

hi
It used to happen like this during the new installation.
goto BIOS setup and check that the HDD is correctely detected. check the size it reported. If its correct, give one more try. else the HDD firmware is corrupted and can be repaired.
thank you

TAKING TOO MUCH TIME TO OPEN. THE HARD DRIVE LAMP RUNNING CONTINUOUSLY

Hi!

Have you ever tried reinstalling windows xp before? if not then revert back to me. I'll teach you how to check if the system still has PC restore. If you ever have tried reinstalling windows or your hdd has been replaced, then you may need to reinstall windows manually by using the discs.

Hope this helps.
