Computer doesn't recognize device

I have a Coby MP-715-4G and when I hook it up to computer using USB, it charges but it doesn't show up on Windows Media so that I can sync music to it. I also tried going through Windows Explorer to transfer files across but it doesn't even show up as being connected. How can I correct this so that I can move my music files to it.

Check to see if you have SP3....if you do...you need to remove SP3 and install SP2 {which most likely will cause a great deal of problems and then you will have to reinstall windows with sp2]. this is due to that SP3 doesn't recognize or auto install portable devices. I had the same problem...my son has SP2 and windows media 11 and it recognizes his coby mp3 player and my insignia player. However, when I put it in my computer which has sp3 it doesn't see either devices.

How to switch modes on an coby mp3 player

What version of windows are you using? Some versions will mark it not the brand but as an extra storage device. For instance I have a Sansa Fuze windows xp marks as extra storage while my vista my win7 and win 8 say Sansa Fuze.... This is a common problem with windows though a lot of mp3 show as an extra storage instead of the brand and/or model. This also more so if the mp3 is actually a lot newer than you OS. So if you open my computer/computer and notice an extra storage device added then I would most like say it's your player. Just a thought you may want to make sure you have all updates for you pc and check to see if there is firmware for you mp3. These could also be why it is not showing as you brand and or unit. My Sansa c240 older mp3 use to show up on xp as extra storage until I got all the updates. If there is still the problem of it not showing up even as extra storage then contact the company about the issue.

Coby mp3 player

Try to reset it if possible.
If the computer charges it then the computer recognizes it as a connected device. That's how usb works. It could be you need a new USB cable. Many devices that use USB for charging do not have the data leads connected in their cables. This is called a "vampire" connection as it only sucks 5 volts DC from the computer/charger .

Computer (Windows XP) does not recognize the Coby MP-C7085 player

On the MP3 player, go to settings > system, put the USB mode to MSC, then reconnect to the computer, computer will read, the device is currently on MTP and your computer doesnt have driver so that is why its not recognizing.

My system is not supporting coby MP-7052gb I want coby software for file transfer

Your system should support it, most likely your computer doesnt recognize the device on MTP mode, you can switch this on the device, go to Setup Mode > System > USB Mode > put the USB Mode to MSC, and then reconnect the MP3 player to your computer, the MP3 player should then show up as a Removable Disk drive under 'My Computer'.

Windows not Recognizing COBY MP705-8G

Make sure you have plugged your Coby MP3 player into a USB 2.0 port. The Coby does not support the USB 1.0 standard. If you are getting an error that "This device can perform faster..." your port is an older USB type. I have both types on my computer and the Coby would not install until I plugged it into my 2.0 port.

Hope this helps.

Computer does not recognize coby mp705

you know the hold button on mp3 player? while connected to the computer, move it to the left until it says hold and it stays there... or if its already on hold move it to the right until its stuck on start symbol

or move it to the right and left vs left or right..

it worked after i played with it for a while...
now if you wait 30 seconds it may or may not reappear :o

remove the device, swear a few times, promise your son you'll buy him a proper ipod, then give it to the dog to play with.

Coby MP705 not being recognized by computer.

You need to plug it into a USB 2.0 port. The 1.0 (or 1.1) standard does NOT work.
