A large number of older games do not work on vista, they are incompatible, you can either download the patch from the games site, which i see youve tried and it did not work, in this case, try to run the program in windows xp SP2 mode. to do this, fidn the application or executive file, it will have .exe at the end of the filename or will say application, then right click it, properties, compatibility, then check the box to run in compatibility mode for:, then choose for Windows XP (Service Pack 2), use those settings then try it again, if it still doesnt work then you simple can not use that game on vista. your last option you can try has a small risk of virus, only because it is user created, but seacrh the internet for a patch that allows it to work on vista. some people make their own patches to allow the program to work on vista.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Lord of the rings the battle for middle earth 2 will load on Windows 7 but will not play...it just sits and thinks....it gets stuck. Is there a patch or some solution? Thank you, otlakerat@tds.net

Try running the game in compatibility mode under properties. (Try XP SP3), and while you're in properties click the `run as administrator` check box aswell.
If that works then your game was probably just not meant to work with Windows 7.

MY Macbook pro disc drive wont read the Starcraft game discs. Every other cd or dvd i put in the drive at least reads, but when I put in starcraft it just spins for a second, pauses, and spins again...

I was pretty disappointed when I couldn't play a 12 year old game on my new macbook either. The best thing to do is go to battle.net, load up the CD key and then load the software onto your mac. The downside is that you will need internet access before playing even if you play single player. That's the way I got around it.

Menus do not work for rom for monster truck madness 64

try a different emulator or if your emulator supports graphics plugins, try different ones. Emulation on the n64 still isnt perfect these days so your best bet is to try the above. Also try downloading the rom elsewhere as the one you have could be a bad dump.

This game was one of the HP games loaded onto my computer to play online. I removed this game from my computer and was then able to load this newly bought game and play.

Hey.
1. Switch off your antivirus software.
2. Locate the folder(s) mentioned in error message, click with right mouse button on them and then untick "Read only" checkbox (choose second option in next window).
It works fine for me under Win XP (SP3)

Where can I download a patch for starwars battle front II that allows me to play it on a vista computer.

There is no patch, but supposedly this is the process for getting the game to work in Vista:

Many Vista users including myself have claimed Battlefront II won't work in Microsoft's latest operating system by a year, Vista. The alleged problem was that when attempting to play any game (load a map), whether online or single player or compaign, the map wouldn't even load- the game would immediately stop and "crash" to the desktop (meaning the game just closed). But the Menus work fine in Battlefront II, so why can't any games, meaning maps, load?

People have found some solutions. Some people say that disabling sound within the game solves the loading issue, which it does, BUT all future gameplay is without sound. I've found a solution to the problem, at least for some Vista users who may find themselves lucky as I did.

Here's my solution. Keep in mind this is for Windows Vista users ONLY:

Go to START,
then click on CONTROL PANEL.

Be sure you aren't under "classic view" for the control panel. You know if you are not in classic view if you see categories such as "System Maintainence" and "Security." If you haven't tampered with the settings, then your most likely not in the classic view.

Anyway, then click on HARDWARE AND SOUND,
and then click SOUND.
A window will pop up.
Navigate to the RECORDING tab in the top,
then RIGHT CLICK on some open white space
and select "Show Disabled Devices."
Hopefully, if you are still in the RECORDING tab,
a new icon will appear called "STEREO MIX."
RIGHT CLICK on the SETEREO MIX icon and select "Enable."

And wippity bang! Hopefully, this guide was of some help to other once-hopeless Vista users. Happy playing, and may the force be with you all!
