I have five lines that run from top to bottom through the screen. What can I do to fix this?

there could be a problem with your graphics card (this is called vertical lines on LCD), if this is a desktop, try removing the graphics card and use the integrated graphics card(built-in) and see if you can still see those vertical lines. hope this helps

Vertical red line on HP w2207 monitor

Please try to connect the monitor to another PC, if problem still exist then probably there's an internal problem in the circuit board of your monitor wherein an elecronic part/s might be cold soldered / defective. I recommend to bring the monitor to an authorized HP service center to fix the problem. If the monitor display is good if connected to other PC, then your previous PC should be checked if the VGA card (if there is any) is properly placed to its slot & working properly as well as it cables & connections. regards

I think this is most likely a monitor problem. Can you try a different monitor of computer to the monitor? That would help pinpoint the problem. Is it under warranty?

Thin red vertical line length of screen(right side)

Your Display cable (inside your monitor) needs to be replaced.

I would look on ebay to try and find the part and then take it to a local tech to replace it for you as I would not recommend anyone take apart a monitor (LCD OR CRT) if you had never done so before.

OR, Buy a new monitor.
