Flashing green light on Sears garage door wall opener HBW0777 1/2

What is causing this flashing green light . The door is not operational using the car remote, and more often than not it won't open using the wall remote either. Sometime the door will open using the wall remote. It just seems to have a mind of its own. this unit was manufactured in 2/93. Is it worth repairing?\ Thanks very much
Dianne.

I've heard that the flashing green light means that the remote lock has been activated from the hard wired opener control. I was told that if you press and hold the lock button for two seconds it is deactivated, but even after doing that my remotes will not work.

Pressing the green button on the opener made my remotes start working again. I had the same blinking light problem and have no idea how it got into that mode.

Same problem - The flashing wall button indicates the remotes are locked out. I fixed mine by pushing the green button on the back of the opener. I did nothing else , just left the LED time out.

This is what worked for me! Thanks so much! Mine is so old school that there's just the "doorbell" button on the wall with the light but no "lock" button, so I just pressed the green button on back and poof, good as new! :-D Thank you!

Thanks so much for all your help. I fixed my flashing green light by depressing the orange learn button but my remote would still not work. Then I pressed the learn button and then my remote and the whole thing was fixed. You guys just saved me a big bill.

You are correct it locks the door in place and can be unlock by holding the button in place then the light should go solid.

You might have to reset or recalibrate remotes to activate them.On newer units there is a button on back of the opener that you push to reacivate the remotes. Look in your owners manual.Maybe by chance you need a battery?

Good suggestions!
I had the same problem and was going to buy a new printed circuit board until I read these postings. All I had to do was re-program my remote (duh!). Instructions for this are on the rear of the opener unit.

How do i reprogram garage opener model 139.53776

To ensure that old codes do not work, first press and hold the SR code button (Learn) on the garage door opener's control panel. Hold the button until the LED goes out. The Learn button is a colored button that is usually on the back panel to the left of the force and up/down adjustment knobs. Sometimes the control panel is on the side of the unit.

Next get a helper to make the programming easier. One person will need to press and release the Learn button. Then within 30 seconds, the second person (or a fast moving individual) needs to type in a 4 digit code and press the enter key on the key pad. The LED near the learn button will flash when the code is received.

If you reset all of the codes, you'll need to repeat the fast press and release of the Learn button. Then press a control button on the remote for most of your other door opener remotes. (There may be a pair of remotes that came with the garage door opener that will never be forgotten.)

I hope this helps.

I've got water coming in through the bottom of my door at work. It's coming in a steady stream through a crack in the marble. Can someone please give me a pointer or two?

If you have water pipes/ heating pipes in the concrete floor then from the crack I would suggest that the floor movement has broken a pipe allowing the water to flow out the crack under the door. To test this turn the water off at the mains and if the water stops flowing after a short period of time then that will indicate the fault. Allow enough time for the water in the pipes up to taps to drain back out
