Re: no activation

Check if you are using the same channel and same squelch code in both radios. I´m not sure if you are talking about the PTT button, if is so, try using a audio accesory with ptt external just to be sure that your internal ptt is working or not.

Why will my vhf radio not respond to on/off switch

Odds are you have a dirty contact. Soft!!!! Touch switches are exactly that. The switchs in a tv remote, microwave oven, calculator or office equipment have this type of swithch. If you find your pushing them harder to activate them, they need cleaned or batteries need replaced. When I worked on copiers (27years) I noticed that only the the slower copiers had keyboard switch problems. I called this the elevator syndrome. You know the more times you push the button the faster the elevator goes? Ultimately this damaged the button resulting in a cracked solider joint . Possibility #2. I have a set of the radios your discribing odds are it's option #2. They force you to hold swithch down until it "boots up" end result cracked solider joint goog luck ,

Motorola mt series not connecting to each other

Activate the "channel monitor" button on one radio while talking on the other and see if you can hear the voice. Then reverse the procedure: talk on the first one while holding the monitor button on the other one. If both radios work with the monitor button held down but will not work without then the CTCSS or CDCSS squelch codes aren't set to the same tone or digital frequency or code. Consult the manual for more information.

Binatone 950 action : hissing sound and receiver sign RX continually on. I assume it is broken but before sending it back any suggestions?

The solution for this is that you probably have it in cont. RX mode, activated by pressing the Menu and Down buttons at the same time, pressing menu should exit this function.

Have Talkabout 250 and want to turn off the beeping. any ideas

The following instructions are for the T289, which is very similar to the T250. It is possible they will work to turn off your beeps.

Alert Tones

The Alert Tones (beeps) on the Talkabout radios are set at a fixed volume

level and cannot be lowered. However, Alert Tones can be disabled. When

Alert Tones are disabled, the radio will receive messages at the volume

setting you've selected, but you will not hear beeps when you press control

Disabling Alert Tones:

1. Hold down the Monitor button while you turn radio on.

2. To re-activate Alert Tones, turn the radio off, then on again while holding
the Monitor button down.

I have 2 Motorola P110 2 Ch Radios. One powers up and when I press the PTT button the red light comes on, so I think it works but the 2nd one when I press the PTT button the light is a lighter color of red...

There a a few things which could cause this:

1) You have the radio set to an unprogrammed channel.

2) You have a bad, low or defective battery. (Try switching batteries with the other unit and see if the problem goes away.)

3) Your radio needs repair.

4) Your radio has busy-channel-lock-out activated and you are trying to transmit on a frequency which has activity in your area.

Bell South 2250 one seems to be voice activated and other not voice activated.

To turn off sound activation press the menu button 3 times to enter VOX mode. The VOX icon should be flashing, then press the down button till the number of bars dissappear. Press the menu button to confirm the VOX off mode. You also can adjust the sensitivity of the VOX mode by how many bars are displayed, less bars equal less sensitivity. No bars and voice command is deactivated. Hope this helps.
